I don't mean to be giving any ideas but you have to make money somehow to operate this site. Just wondering.

Charging a fee won't fly.. I think they have a better idea with regards to shirts, caps and other knick knacks...

Actually they should offer "official" memberships, say $20-30 per year. Of course with some kind of benefits over regular guest accounts. Hosting such a huge site is not free, someone has to pay for it.

Yes, I know, I assist in running one myself. But there is a big difference between the hard-core visitor, semi-visitor and the casual person coming to this site. If you look at the stats there is almost always twice as many annonymous users than registered. That means a sh*t load of people don't even bother to register a screen name let alone actually pay a fee. Now the ones that actually register I can guarantee you that you will lose a decent percentage (how much I don't know). Rx-club is better off selling the caps, shirts and what not, it will raise a lot more dough and keep the visitation high. There is not only the costs in running a Server but also the administration time and effort the Site Admins would incur to deal with memberships... my 2 cents..

Don't expect to have to pay a fee to be able to use this forum.

Some forums will charge a small fee to put big pictures in an owner's gallery, and some will even offer special consideration and features to users who pay a fee, but few will require fee to use the basics of the forum.

I didn't mean to charge for the use of the forum.. but create a special membership which will provide members with exclusive tshirts or hats or something like that. Or maybe like you said, access to webspace for pictures.

the lack of ads, and the quality of the members of this site makes me scared, such things unfortunatly do not last long

Actually the quality of members is on the higher side compared to what I've seen on other forums. Don't forget that as the rx-8 gets more popular, more young FNF types will find their way here.. :D And the inevitable, "can I slap a turbo/sc on this thing to make it faster" questions and arguments will follow.. That's normal though, just need to keep things on an even keel. Witness the Neon RT thread that has been deleted/moved.

uh that was meant as a compliment to the members of the site, implying that good things tend not to last

As long as we don't ever allow a "Kills" section or similar posts to proliferate here, the "kidz" will have to go elsewhere to "pound their chests."

Ok guys, I've had enough of you making fun of me because I'm 16. I've never tried to Gangsta anything up. Nor have I ever hot glued a coffe can to my exauhst and called it a muffler. SO just drop this 2 fast to furious stuff. Don't forget what it was like in the 90's / 80's like most of you were teens in. You had stupid things also and you HATED BEING STEROTYPED JUST LIKE I DO.

Vent over. I visit this forum hourly. And I appreciate they dont have those annoying flashing banners or interactive play this game type i think its good right now

If it ever came to the point that the RX8club hosts needed financial help, I'm sure there are a good number of members who would be more than willing to help contribute.

I came to this forum while deciding on my purchase and it helped remove a lot of doubts. Plus it was good to see strong community support which helped in my decision too.

I didn't know you were 16 until you just said so. I haven't seen anyone making fun of you either. With that said, don't you think it's time you got your lazy ass off the couch and find yourself a job? All you wanna do is play PS2, listen to Marilyn Manson and get stoned with your friends....no.....wait..... that's 93rdcurrent....nevermind.

:D :D :D

This forum is a large part of why I purchased an RX8. I almost got a Crossfire (I had my reasons), but I got a ton of information from this site, and I knew what questions to ask when buying because of it. I only paid $100 over invoice because I was so well prepared.
If someone had T-shirts or caps to sell, I'd buy 'em, so long as the $$ left after production cost went to the site. Polak sells a Polo, but I'm not really a big fan. To anyone fishing for ideas....Tasteful....simple and Tasteful. Think rotary symbol with the RX8Club logo underneath.
As far as ever having to pay for a membership, that is out of the question. Most people will never pay to be a member of any forum...well maybe Penthouse forum, ahem, anyway...even if it is only $2. People have messed up principles sometimes.
I would imagine that the sponsors of this forum contribute quite a bit, and wouldn't dream of letting it crash. Think of how much discussion is about different products for your car. These companies have a vested interest in the members, and the ratio of contribution to payoff potential is minimal. If there is ever an issue about financing this site, I would urge moderators to start soliciting if they haven't already.
