You can't PAUSE a CD? Is this right? Heck my $20 walkman has PAUSE! But our "BOSE" <---- read sarcastically can't pause?

WTF?

I can't find it, maybe it is there.

Most car CD players (at least those from car manufacturers) can't...

Sheesh, my hyundai has pause!

I admit I never used it because the button was too small.

In most automotive CD/RADIO/Tape units there is no pause. Pause is achieved by either turning the unit OFF or switching mode (AM, FM or TAPE). When you return to CD/ON you resume where you left off on the CD.

Most walkman type units have a pause, but loose the CD position when turned off.

6 of one, half-a-dozen of the other.

A nice easter egg / feature would have been to have the "mute" button on the steering wheel actualy be "pause" when in CD mode. But perhaps I'm the only one who thinks of stuff like this, because the button only mutes. As it is I just hit the off button as I did in previous cars.

Switching modes from the steering wheel pauses the CD. I thought the mute paused it also. But I was wrong. Guess the mute button affected my short term memory and I didn't remember where the song was when I first muted it. :(

I thought the same, I tested out the mute button thinking wow this is cool the mute ALSO pauses that makes perfect sense!

But alas no, doesn't do that. Man that would be PERFECT. I understand you can't pause radio so you just mute it, but why can't mute just automatically pause a cd, who the heck would mute and not want to pause it?

I guess a better question is: why would you want to pause a CD in a car? Sorry, but I've never needed to do this.

I've never considered it a problem, though it might be if you were listening to a "talking book" or something like that.

you need to pause a cd if maybe you get a phone call

There is no real NEED to pick up from exactly where you left off, but it would most definitely be a nice feature. I personaly listen to CDs exclusivly in the car, and I almost alway listen to them straight through without skipping around. So if something happens on the road that requires extra special attention, or if someone in the car gets a cell call, I prefer to hit the off button and stop the cd. That way you don't end up skipping over a track or two of the cd you are listening to (which may be your favorite part). Trying to scan back is just way to anoying.

It's small nicities like mute pausing the cd that can give an owner an extra special close feeling about their car. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my 8 (just can't get enough). I just mentioned that they extra feature would have been a small but appreciated improvement.

I hit pause when I see a cop approaching or pulling up next to me at a light.... then when he is far enough away, i resume :) then again... I don't think we'll have this problem in the 8... stock or even with the bose..... unless you install aftermarket... Hey... I like it loud... and the bose doesn't cut it for me... yes i'm aware of the BOSE sucks thread...

There is a Pause button. Right below the hazard lights if you push the main volume knob in it pauses the cd
