So now that they are actively testing for drugs, both Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa are calling it quits. Coincidence? I think not.

the big question is, how should all these allegedly 'tainted' baseball players' achievements be recorded/viewed???? what would their legacy be?

banned from the record books. They've cheated and their "accomplishments" should be stricken from the record.

That and barry bonds should take a long walk off a short cliff.

One could always debate the validity of putting an asterisk next to Roger Maris's 61 homeruns. In this case, an asterisk would be justified, but it would have to be placed next to more than just the two players mentioned unfortunately.

but then again, none of these 'alleged' players have ever been formally caught in a drug test, and none will ever actually go out in public and admit any wrongdoing, so how do you know who did what????

i think the whole integrity of pro baseball will be put in the spotlight and heavily criticized when these guys become eligible for HOF...

Oh please. While I can't say for sammy sosa, have you seen pictures of bonds when he first started playing baseball? The guy was a beanpole.

You can do strength training and protein shakes out the wazoo and won't end up like schwartzenegger. Some of it is genetics man. Bonds blew up like a house.

well you can't just ban somebody because they 'looked like' they used steroids.... need concrete test result a la Raffy Palmeiro, which was a shame because he had all the credentials to be a first ballot HOFmer :(

and i hate the yankees, but i'm kinda lukewarm to baseball in general, so what do i know :o:

No, it definitely applies to Sammy Sosa as well. After the big drug test scare, Sosa only hit 14 HRs. Once again, its not just a coincidence.

Soccer players only can play til 35 maybe, and definately past the glory days... when did Mark McGuire retired? like 41. Barry Bonds is 44. What are they doing and the soccer players didn't know...

Soccer players have to be fit to play. They are moving all the time. Baseball players stand around most of the time.

The same could be said about football players. Think about it. Soccer players are moving all the time, but they are not running or sprinting all the time, still you make a generally vaild point.

Baseball players are adjusting positions constantly as well, tensing for events, not just lolly-gagging around for nine innings. Pitchers are expending a butt load of energy, especially if they last a full game. The catcher's life is brutal. Try squatting, then standing, throwing, etc. all the while catching 90 mph spheroids for 3-4 hrs. You get the occasional unfit baseball player, but generally, baseball players are just as physically fit as any other athelete.

Soccer players ain't got anything on hockey players though.

in an average game a midfielder in soccer will run over 10 miles. That includes sprints steals and all the other stuff they have to do all in 90 minutes. Id like to see how many athletes in those sports can run 10 miles in any span of time.

i dunno, soccer players don't wear heavyass gears like hockey/football players... and running is not nearly as stressful as skating and hitting someone in the chops

hockey players get my props, fastest sport on land

i love hockey and it is one of the most athletic sports, but have you ever seen a soccer game? you make it sound as if these guys jog around leisurely and don't come within 2 feet of eachother. running on a soccer field is plenty stressful. You have to be running constantly, and be prepared to sprint many times during the game.
