www.mazdadrivers.com is again sponsoring a track event (instructors provided for newbies). I've been with these guys to several of their events and can say with certainty there will be plenty of awesome cars there, and a chance to learn how your 8 can really perform. The event is also open to non-Mazdas.
details are on this thread:

I'm there. I'll be the black RX-8 w/ black wheels and MD plates. I can barely wait.

I'll be there Saturday morning in the same car as in my avatar, which by the way was taken at VIR.

I'm working on a plan to get to this event myself. Only an hour away! It will be my first such event and the chills are already forming! Any of you guys that have been before, tell me how great it was! What was your first visit like and how is it now, any different?

Did VIR last Year in June with MazdaDrivers. Both the track and the organizers are excellent. It was my first track event last year and I will be back in June this year. Lovely place, first rate facility and great people. Do it.
All you need is a helmet and DOT 4 brake fluid. The car and event will make you smile for months afterwards.

Ditto the above. This will be my first time doing VIR-N, but I've done VIR-S 4 times, and VIR-Full 2 times. This is one of the finest pieces of asphalt on the east coast. MazdaDrivers runs a tight ship. VIR advertises itself as a "motorsports country club", which I wholeheartedly endorse. I'll be staying in the VIR Lodge at the track this time, and some friends of mine have stayed there before and tell me it rocks - jacuzzi, flat screen tv's in the rooms, and a good restaurant. VIR spoils you. When you go to other tracks, they're kind of spartan in comparison.
Act quickly on registering. This school is almost full.
