People keep askin me if I'm gonna go back home for the festivities, and I continue to respond with firm "no." I keep in contact with my peeps from back home and they keep telling me how fucked up shit still is in the city while others can't wait for it to happen so they can have an excuse to wild out. I'm just gonna wait and see what happens.

Yes, Mardi Gras to Mardi Mince. Well maybe in the city of New Orleans, but the surrounding towns will still have Mardi Gras with a good turnout. This is because most of the town's (Baton Rouge) population has increased after the storm.

Feb 28th is currently scheduled for the big day. I think as a service to Floridians, New Orleans natives should get some type of mass fleet of buses to take them down there so they can get a feel for how Gasperella (sp) compares to it.

I have never been to the Gasparilla night parades, but I can tell you Mardi Gras atmosphere is alot more encompassing.. You always knwo when mardi gras is in the air.

I was born and raised in New Orleans, but only lived in Tampa for 5 years..

They try to make Ybor city Burbon streetish.. but it's not the same without homeless people in the streets and the smell of urine in the air.

Yea, that makes me want to go visit.

Isn't this the same place that is advertising all over for college students to do StormCorps instead of going on spring break????

I loved Mardi Gras. I think everyone who wants to go should. Pump some money into the local economies. Won't be the same as before but it's a start.

Well we're leaving on the 23rd from the Northern Va area. Maybe we can start a convoy going down there. This is my 7th year straight going, it keeps on getting better and better every year. If anybody wants to go, let me know. Mark.

Yeah, NYC smells just like that and they don't even need an occasion!

So THAT'S what that smell was. I was so drunk last year that I didn't really notice the stench until the next day when we were out looking for someplace that served breakfast at 1pm.

It's only like that in NYC subways now.. and it's not the same as N.O. urine!

Once they hit 17 they are legal until they assume room temperature.
