tho i heard he ripped it apart on the original version ...

Only one version, before the clip you saw he ripped apart the looks, then afterwards he kinda takes back it being the best car he has driven but praises it quite a bit and calls it better than the Z.

Yeah, he goes on to say that it kinda sucks on wet roads.

Raptor2k

"Something about those tires"

So wet roads aren't a problem =D

saturn
02-09-2006, 11:23 PM
The whole wet handling thing makes no sense. Why would he praise a car so much just to turn it around and slam it for something that's so easily remedied with a nicer set of tires? I wonder if he had the DSC and/or traction control turned off?

Even though I'm preaching to the choir being that this is an RX-8 forum, I think he got the whole visceral feel that the RX-8 conveys. Despite his gripes with the busy tail lights and wet weather handling, the statement "this is one of the easiest cars to drive fast that I've ever come across" just seems to hit the nail right on the head.

I'm just reminded of a post where the poster said a guy came up to him at a gas station and asked him why you bought the RX-8 in a particular obnoxious sort of way. To me, the only answer is, "if you don't get it, I can't explain it to you".

Then, of course, I would have kicked in squaw in the nuts.

If it is, I will never know. My cable is out. It is windy here and the electricity keeps going on and off, which keeps killing my DSL connection. Fortunately my computers are on battery backup but I ran out of plugs to put my modem on it.

I believe they're just getting us ready for this http://www.topgear.com/content/features/stories/2006/01/stories/08/1.html

I can probably find out for sure tomorrow what's going to happen since my brother is a VP at Discovery channel, but he doesn't really have much to do with the programming.

Just saw what I think is being referred to as the short version of the RX8. He said nothing but good things. He said the back seat would be good for kids. I dunno about you guys, but I fit just fine back there.

he's also really tall so he's not going to like much of any back seats unless its a sedan

Don't you mean unless its a saloon? Bollocks!

RedSheDevil

I was wondering what a saloon was ... and it took me a minute to figure out what a coo-pay was too.

Saloon and "coo-pay" sounds so posh. I like it. I'm going to say that from now on. I love english accents. It makes ugly things sound not so bad or harsh.

be sure to start typing "tyres" too! :D:

moRotorMotor
02-10-2006, 09:24 AM
My RE040 Potenza "tyres" have loud road noise and "skittish" in wet weather. It "fancies" to drink the "petrol" too. :wiggle:

I feel like a different person already!

saturn

I'm the same way, moRotorMotor, as evidenced by a post I once made...

If you don't fancy paying a lot of money on petrol, you'll likely never be jolly with this auto. My mate and I went on a car journey and we were on the motorway almost the entire time and only got 7 kilometers per liter. Bollocks to that I say! You can pop open the bonnet and make some mods, but in the end it'll just cost you more pounds at the petrol station.

Haha, British people are awesome!

ZoomZoomH

did you know our bonnet is made out of alu-minium??? lol

Awesome stuff. Just wish we would have beaten that 350Z, even if it had been by .00001 seconds. LOL

Thats what those cool "timestamps" at the top of everyone's posts are for. That way you know exactly when "now" is.
