View Full Version : RX-8 & female
Brian_RX 09-28-2002, 01:45 AM Does any one in this form is female?? i am very interesting what kind of female is falling in love with RX-8. I would like to hear the voice and opinion about this RX-8 from you girls:D ............because we always hear the voice and opinion from our men. :)
Brian_RX 09-28-2002, 02:08 AM My sister and my girlfriend don't like the 8.........Does any of you guys have some female friends said something about the 8?
Hercules 09-28-2002, 02:35 AM All the girls that are my friends I've shown it to have liked it :)
First I show them the head-on shot.. then the suicide doors.. ease them into it :)
They love the doors they think they are very ingenious, as do I :)
sheylen 09-28-2002, 03:09 AM My wife thinks this is a very sexy car, she believes that this is the right car for me. I am not sure what she means with that:confused:
Brian_RX 09-28-2002, 03:09 AM My sister and girlfriend suggest me to buy an IS 300 because they said that they liked out-looking and the regular way to open doors; however, i like the new idea on the 8 which you point out. i would to drive a four doors' car with the sport feeling. "RX-8" I am waiting for it, please don't take me so long to wait because i have been waiting for 8 since Tokyo Auto Show 1999.
Grimace 09-28-2002, 10:02 AM My girlfriend says she likes the RX-8, but she might just be indulging me so I quit showing her pictures...
Elara 09-28-2002, 10:26 AM I like the RX-8 because I value drivability and handling over raw power- which the RX-8 will also have- but that's just an added bonus. I had my heart set on a Miata, NOT because of the way it looked, but because I had driven one, and was in love with the way it handled. I also thought the fact that it had a rotary in it was really very interesting- I LOVE RX-7s, but I wanted a newer car with less chance of things going wrong. And anyway, the RX-8 will have 4 seats- very useful in showing it off to lots of friends at one time! I'm not as in lvoe with the styling on the 8 as I am with the 7, but sometimes compromises have to be made.
I am not really considering anything other than one of those two- I don't like American muscle cars like Mustangs, camaros, etc. I don't like most other Japanese cars like Infinitys and Lexus- I think they are alll VERY generic looking. The same goes for Nissan and Honda, and that includes the 350Z and S2000. I want something that is different. I *might* consider an Audi TT, but only if the something happens to make me hate Mazda.
I'm exactly the opposite of Grimace- my husband says he likes the RX-8, but I suspect he's just indulging me, so I don't show him pictures anymore!
And as for what type of female I am?? A normal one, I guess??? I'm 27, an editor, married for a year, desperately waiting for the RX-8...does that answer your question? I seem to be the only female that's really stuck around here on this forum very long.

and we are happy to have you around! now tell all your female freinds about the car and the forum and maybe we can some more women on here. guys like to have the womens point of view even if we don't want to admit it.;)
edit: and by the way my wife loves the car and totally agrees with me that it will be my next car. she has to now because her grandmother said she should since i just finished putting her thru college and now my wife makes more than i do.:D
Elara 09-29-2002, 12:15 AM Sorry, Sputnik- I should have said I would consider looking at a TT after driving one- I meant that I liked the way it looks compared to the S2000's and 350Zs, and I would consider taking it for a test drive with the possibility of buying it IF I liked the way it drove. I don't care how the S2000s and 350s drive, their styling is just not what I find attractive. Perhaps a little silly to judge a car on looks as well as the way it drives- but I am particular about styling as well.
And just so no one thinks I'm a complete idiot- I made it sound like I thought the Miata was rotary- sorry. I'm sure a rotary Miata would be fun, but I was referring the the RX-8, if a little unclearly.
And Zoom44- I would love to get my friends on here- but most of them know/care little about cars- I've already been told several times I'm crazy for wanting to go to Detroit in January. It's gotten to the point that I just don't talk about them except in front of guys.

Nothing to be sorry about. I was just wondering if you had driven it yet, especially if nimble handling was a major draw for you.

Grimace 09-29-2002, 02:10 PM Elara, I think we have to dump our significant others and get together ourselves. ;) Think about it, a 2 RX-8 family.
EightyEight 05-04-2010, 07:42 PM I agree with Elara completely. I just got my RX8 and I love it. I love how it handles and I honestly feel like its perfect for me. I've been driving some rather ragged cars and I appreciate the RX8 more than anything...

prighello 05-04-2010, 09:07 PM My wife was the one that pushed me to get the 8. I was set on a Z until she took me to a Mazda dealer to test drive an 8. Funny thing is she's not really a car person she just liked the way the car looked.

RufusVonStorm 05-05-2010, 09:37 PM My girlfriend thinks the FD is awesome, but on the other hand questioned my sports car judgment buying an rx-8. I've tried to explain that the chassis and engine are both blissful though maybe not the ideal partners
labutler 05-11-2010, 08:57 AM Female here who owned an 04 LY RX8, sport, 6 spd.....I LOVED MY REX!! Sold it last June to buy a house (left the loser BF) and I have missed it everyday since. I bought a mustang gt convertible last month because I thought I would like something I hadn't owned before....I am not impressed with the Mustang....power is great, it looks good, and, a Mustang is a Mustang, right...? Wrong!!! I am a ruined woman because of the smooth acceleration and excitement of the rotary...I will own another one!!!
yiksing 05-11-2010, 09:28 AM I met a lady who hates the 8, she said "The RX-8 is a girl car".........:Freak_ani

Bugler 05-11-2010, 06:22 PM Obviously a lesbian.
Funny you'd say that. My (as of today) ex wife is a lesbian. And she said after I bought it: "It's a girl car."

Okay, I'll break the silence... haven't mentioned that I am a woman on the forum yet.... til now. I am. people have been saying "yeh man, and "that guy..." but I let it go. Female, married, mother of two teenagers and an RX-8 lover! I've had my eye on the RX-7 since I was a teenager. Then I saw the RX-8 and had to have one. So I love the RX-8 because it's agressive AND sexy. I test drove a number of "toys" before I bought the RX-8, but it by far gave me the biggest grin. fell in love with the "jet engine" noise when slowing down... still makes me smile every time I hear it - don't think I'll ever get sick of it. I love that you can really wind it up before red-lining.. my Dad has a Porche and I love tearing up the back roads with him - we take turns passing each other and I laugh when he flys by me. ( after all, it's a Porche) I love that not everyone has one and people stop and look and want to know what it is.... I love that every little punk in a subaru or an eclipse pulls up next to me and sees that I'm a woman and thinks I won't floor it.... they were wrong!
I had to sell my motorcycle a couple of years back and really missed the thrill of the ride - this comes pretty close... just wish all those other cars weren't on the road too.... written by someone who loves to drive - fast.
