I've had my 8 since dec. and have yet to see my oil pressure gauge move. I'm starting to wonder if it's nothing more than a idiot light. I start my car in the morning even below 20 degree weather and its in the same position when I get to work an hour and a half later. I even changed my oil already and still saw no change. My 7 changes all the time according to temp and rpm, its also has actual numbers instead of L & H. I love my 7 with fresh oil it seems to have a little bit more oil pressure and runs a little better. I did'nt experience this with my 8 although I did baptize my engine with oil changing the filter.

P.S. Mazda did'nt want the oil filter to loosen. What a bitch the fist oil change is!

Mine does show a very little deviation when the oil level is a slot lower but very very mild only.

no it doesnt- it is only on or off. you have pressure over x psi or you dont. im to tired to llok up the exact pressure right now ill do it tomorrow(well in the morning/daytime;))

What a waste of a gauge cluster. They should have just put a regular speedometer there,or at least some gauges that work.

the on/off point is 5psi by the way.

you can get a pressure sensor adaptor from racing beat. then hook up your own guage. check it out:)

yeah, thats why the mazdaspeed gauge cluster has a oil pressure gauge in there.

no way! Regular speedometers give me headaches now. Digital only for me from here on out (even if I have to add it myself).

a working oil gauge would have the phones at the service dept ringing constantly since people don't know anything about cars in today's world.
