You might want to give people an idea of the ballpark you are willing to entertain for a price...

Hope that helps!

I owe around 30 K on the car. Would let it go for 27.5K. Thanks

27.5k?? not going to bash, i'm just going to say I really don't think you're going to get that, I'm pretty sure it's easy (at least around here) to get a brand new shinka for that price... good luck though man if you're willing to accept the depreciation hit rx-8s get, send me a pm or email me at lang84@gmail.com

have you seen any rx-8s go for blue book really though? especially with this whole missing a model year thing, that's why I think bluebook hasn't updated teh depreciation hit. Keep in mind Mazda also introduced a 2 grand rebate on new 2005's pretty sure that's nationwide?

Not at Blue Book "Retail" because dealers are offering huge discounts on unsold 05's; and there seems to be a fair amount of them! Perhaps this is a factor concerning the "missing year"!

Keep in mind this model has only been out 2 years and is not a big seller. Also, the Shinka is an 05 model with even smaller production numbers. 27,500 is about a 20% depreciation hit which is in line with the Private Party price.

Most of what "sells" (on E-Bay at least), seem to be base models that take the "hit" at 20% for 05's, 30% for 04's; occasionally you find someone who is really strapped and not upside down in the car. Of course there are plenty of "Salvage" ones out there that can be had for even less!

What do you think is fair?

Agree with EDZRIDE. Most of the cars which are going for such lower prices are the base RX-8 models. 27k is a 20% depreciation. Its a good depreciation for a car less than a year old. Overall, I have never drive this car on track and its almost brand new.

Base Shinka MSRP 32470. Invoice 30,005. current rebate 2500. Should be able to pick up a brand new one for 27,500 - 20% for used gets you 22,000. Not alot of Shinkas out there so you may be able to get more.

Seems you forgot to add in the destination charge and the spoiler. Also, there is only a $1000.00 rebate according to "Edmonds" but you have to finance through Mazda. Looks like you could get one brand new for 29,850 if you could find it on a lot!

Keep in mind that depreciation is based on MSRP; not what the car "sold" for.

You're definitely NOT going to get t hat price. I sell custom built RX-8's with a turbo in there for that much already w/ the bells and whistles. LOL, you may want to drop the price to around 21,000 man. This would sell at that price. Actually, you'd be lucky to get if even that! :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

ricky perhaps you should tone back the rhetoric. you've been here for 3 posts and all have been negative towards the seller. find something else to talk about

It's not negative, I'm, just trying to help them sell it faster. I sell cars too and sure we'd like to overprice these things but we also need that sale. So, yea, it's more help than anything.

I guess the Shinka that the guy as selling for 24.5K was sold. Not sure the final price.

edmunds.com is a more accurate price, imo. 05 Shinka with 12,000 miles is worth $25,092 for a private party seller.

good luck

Agree that people should be using Edmunds.com for pricing over KBB. And even then, Edmunds still is higher than going rates.

Yeah, edmunds.com pricing is quite off from the real prices. KBB is a freakin joke.

I guess the Shinka that the guy as selling for 24.5K was sold. Not sure the final price.

That was mine, 2005 Shinka, 17500 miles. Sold it in Lincoln Nebraska...to the Mazda tech at the local dealer. No hassle, sold it at 23K. The dealer has a consignment program...for $150 bucks, they will sell the car and they make at least $695 profit. Dropped it off Monday, had a buyer Wednesday.

I used both KBB and NADA for my value estimates...NADA was right on with what the dealer told me.

I had a used car dealer initially offer 21K and then said his boss bought a 05 Shinka with 800 miles at auction for 18K...so his final offer was 18K.

Bottom line, sell it for what you think you can get. That is capitalism...supply and demand. If you're gonna tell somebody they'll never get that price, take your money else where. If you're not looking to buy, hold your piece. While it is helpful to offer what the going rate for an 8 is in your area, do it in a respectful manner.
