Have just contacted my dealer and tried to add sat nav. to my order and was informed that it would delay my deivery date from the first batch until January.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there any way round it?

Well they've been building the first batch of cars since 28th of july, and will stop on the 20th August.

I'd say its to late to change your car spec and expect delivery in nov/dec.

When it was annouced that the Black could be ordered with the Red and Black interior, I rang the helpline and they suggested that my order would be delayed until at least January.

Given as this was before the cars started being built I thought it was rather surprising, but I settled for the all black leather I had ordered originally.
