I have been looking and can't find any Silvermister 01-28-2006, 10:55 PM Why would u do that anyways. The RX8 taillights are HOT! Remember you are not driving a damn Civic. As far as fenders, i think Crabon creations has carbon fiber fenders. Don't mess up your car with Pep Boys taillights. No there are no taillights that I know of. Terrance26 01-29-2006, 12:52 AM I like the stock taillights, but its your car. I haven't seen any aftermarket lights. marvin_rock 01-29-2006, 01:12 AM Yeah, I second or third the hot stock taillights. Whichever, it's your call. I mean even the little dead spider that is in my taillight is a part of my car. Mikelikes2drive 01-29-2006, 02:08 AM i dont like our tailights... no aftermarket tailights... i plan on blacking mine out in the coming months... need to get rid of that F*in chrome in there. Raptor2k 01-29-2006, 02:21 AM Yeah, I second or third the hot stock taillights. Whichever, it's your call. I mean even the little dead spider that is in my taillight is a part of my car. Rofl. I'm starting to wonder who DOESN'T have the spider. Stock taillight supporter here. momo 01-29-2006, 02:59 AM Rofl. I'm starting to wonder who DOESN'T have the spider. Stock taillight supporter here. Not to hijack this thread, not only do I have a spider in taillight but I have a webb to go along with my dead spider. :Eyecrazy: The tailights are ok, but I still plan on buying these red out covers (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8029492290&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT) when I get a chance. If I don't like I'm out $30 tops. H8SUVS 10-09-2006, 02:26 PM Rofl. I'm starting to wonder who DOESN'T have the spider. Stock taillight supporter here. I just got my 2006 a month and a half ago. And I have a dead spider in the taillight too. WTF is the deal with that? I haven't gotten any condensation in the light so how the heck could a spider get in there? kwescott 10-09-2006, 04:28 PM momo, you going to SS9? If so, look for my car and you'll get an idea of what red lights look like. I'm planning on doing my front ambers as well. Tamas 10-09-2006, 05:42 PM Rofl. I'm starting to wonder who DOESN'T have the spider.Me. :D: no dice 10-09-2006, 05:44 PM ^agreed Clavius 10-09-2006, 07:29 PM Rofl. I'm starting to wonder who DOESN'T have the spider. Stock taillight supporter here. I had the spider in my passenger side tail light and then condensation on the drivers side. I made mention of it to my service rep and he replaced both of them hehe. I kinda think its a inside joke at the Mazda Factories to slip in spiders into our tail lights lol. Oh and why would you want aftermarket tail lights for our car? They look fine as is.. Either blacking them out or maybe a red vinyl is fine. Sure they are busy as hell but thats the appeal of them. momo 10-12-2006, 05:02 AM momo, you going to SS9? If so, look for my car and you'll get an idea of what red lights look like. I'm planning on doing my front ambers as well. Sorry I live in Monterey, that would be like a 5 hour drive for me. Not that I wouldn't enjoy driving down hwy1, all those twisties and ocean views. :Drooling_ NVMYGT 10-12-2006, 06:57 AM momo, you going to SS9? If so, look for my car and you'll get an idea of what red lights look like. I'm planning on doing my front ambers as well. Do you have any pics of the red lights? What did you use to cover them? I'm seriously contemplating this as well. RotrDoc 10-12-2006, 08:07 AM Rofl. I'm starting to wonder who DOESN'T have the spider. It's part of the Sport package. kwescott 10-12-2006, 12:16 PM Do you have any pics of the red lights? What did you use to cover them? I'm seriously contemplating this as well. I used the "red-out" kit from Ebay. It is a vinyl type material that you have to apply to the outside of the lens. Most people who see the lights don't even realize that anything has been done to them...I guess because that is an area of the 8 which is rarely modded...so no one ever expects it. The material is good for 5 years, it is an outdoor grade...so it is durable. I've had it on for over a month now. It still looks like the day I put it on. The unfortunate part about our tailights, is that they have a lot of contours that makes it very difficult to apply vinyl to. I didn't have enough patience to do it myself, so I asked my fiance to do it. She is very careful, and willing to take the time to make things as good as possible. If you do it yourself, you will have a couple of areas that will be prone to small air bubbles. If you took the material to a window tinting shop, they may have some better techniques to make the install look perfect. As for pics.....I guess I could put up one. I kinda want to keep the lights under wraps for now....but I will definately put up a thread after SS9. mac11 10-12-2006, 12:36 PM better techniques to make the install look perfect. put some slightly soapy water in a spray bottle and spray the lens before applying the film. then apply the film and use a hair dryer to heat the filmso you will be able to work it around corners. the use a credit card or something flat to work out the soapy water and air bubbles and let it sit and dry under a hot light for a few hours. NVMYGT 10-12-2006, 12:38 PM Thank you for the picture. I apologize for spoiling your unveiling, but really appreciate it. I'm most certain that this is the method I'm going to go. I love the rear of the 8, but the tail lights are a sore spot for me. I can't wait to see more pics (brakes on) after your official uneiling. kwescott 10-12-2006, 12:41 PM brake lights are same as before...no change. The part that is a bummer with red tint is the pink back up light :) I have white led's for turn signals, so no problem with the amber and red clashing. mac11 10-12-2006, 01:07 PM There is also a black film that i used to dark mine out. no dice 10-12-2006, 01:30 PM That looks too much like an RSX rear now.. http://www.wickedbodies.net/02-On-RSX/Acura%20RSX%2002-04%20-%20aero%201%20rear%20add%20ons.jpg kwescott 10-12-2006, 01:33 PM no_dice...aka mugatu no dice 10-12-2006, 01:37 PM ^what's that supposed to mean? mac11 10-12-2006, 01:39 PM im pretty sure it measns search. but other than the lights being red i dont see the similarity. that is like saying the cars look alike because they both have 4 wheels. no dice 10-12-2006, 01:51 PM im pretty sure it measns search. but other than the lights being red i dont see the similarity. that is like saying the cars look alike because they both have 4 wheels. Lol no, its not. Thats like saying the tail lights look like the tail lights off of an RSX... I looked at the picture, enlarged it to 100% and the first thing that came to mind was, 'damn that looks like the tail lights from an rsx' So i voiced my opinion and said it looks like an RSX rear. The red IS what made me lean towards deciding it looked like RSX tails. If he had tinted them black, or smoked them, i wouldve applauded. I dont think it means search.. he said 'no_dice aka mugatu' no_dice [also known as] mugatu? I'm not mugatu. i am no dice. lol NVMYGT 10-12-2006, 04:52 PM That looks too much like an RSX rear now.. http://www.wickedbodies.net/02-On-RSX/Acura%20RSX%2002-04%20-%20aero%201%20rear%20add%20ons.jpg I don't see it at all... :dunno: CASANOVA 10-12-2006, 09:22 PM  The whole "spider" thing is so funny! I thought I was the only one with a spider in the tail light. momo 10-13-2006, 03:17 AM The unfortunate part about our tailights, is that they have a lot of contours that makes it very difficult to apply vinyl to. That was very sweet of her to have done that for you. I think she did one heck of a good job. Now, back to the subject at hand, I install clear bra, so I can you guys a few tips. Follow this link for some good instructions here (http://www.starshieldarmor.com/installation/installation.php). You can probably get away using some type of credit card, but make sure that you wrap it with with a paper towel, so that you don't scratch the film. Or, just buy a squeeggee (http://www.stickercity.com/store/product.php?productid=16937&cat=2207&page=1) you can pick one up just about anywhere. The squeeggee will help squeeze the excess solution and any air bubbles. momo 10-13-2006, 03:19 AM I don't see it at all... :dunno: +2 :smokepoke MissyK 10-13-2006, 08:00 AM As far as I know theres no alternative of taillights. You could just smoke them or tint them red for something different....... And for fenders u can get chrome painted 1s or carbon fibre mac11 10-13-2006, 09:06 AM As far as I know theres no alternative of taillights. NVMYGT 10-13-2006, 10:03 AM I'm certain Missy is referring to the fender grilles. You can get chrome plated ones from RX8strakes.com mac11 10-13-2006, 10:25 AM oh....thats not the same at all........still terribly tackey. kwescott 10-13-2006, 11:28 AM FYI....a squeegee will come in the red out kit..so no need to go out and buy one. kwescott 10-15-2006, 12:14 AM sneak peak at the fronts..... I've been wanting to do this but thought the only way is to open the lens cover and spray the inside. And we all know how easy it is to do that! The contour is nearly impossible to throw on overlays. IMHO, this is how it should've came stock. kwescott 10-16-2006, 03:36 PM yeah, but if they came red, then you know there would be cheesy looking altezzas on ebay. At least out Altezza lights look nice and have the extra detailing in them that you would never find on an aftermarket light. As for the red film, and the contours of the lights....if you have little to no patience, this is not something for you. If you do have patience but little skill, then buy two of the kits, because you will more than likely do a veyr poor job on your first light. The kit doesn't come with enough material to cover two lights and make a mistake. I bought a generic kit 12'' by 6'' to do my corners...and have more than enough to do some more. If you want to have early success, just cover your corners...with either black or red tint. The maybe you'll have an idea of what to look forward to on the taillights. kwescott 10-16-2006, 03:39 PM here's some blurry action shots....you can see how the rear looks, as well as the sides with the red corners. I installed the MS sides myself, so hopefully that gave me a higher threshold of patience! :) I'm in Ohio, do you think the film will hold up in our climate? kwescott 10-16-2006, 03:58 PM Thanks for the tip. I installed the MS sides myself, so hopefully that gave me a higher threshold of patience! :) I'm in Ohio, do you think the film will hold up in our climate? good question? I would suggest talking to sign/vinyl guys in your area. They may have an idea of the type of film needed to fit your climate...or they may say that the same vinyl will work, but will not last as long....or email the ebay vendor and ask him that same question. It would be good to know. I guess I'm spoiled here in California, I never have to worry about weather, and the affects it may have on the car or my mods. I just have to worry about California Highway Patrol and their abilities to deflate my excitement with fix-it tickets. kwescott 10-17-2006, 12:32 PM here's a couple closer shots. http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=87172 http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=87171 presequel 10-17-2006, 06:14 PM looks great. i think i actually like it better than smoked tails. Did you pinstripe the rpf1s with red? imo it adds to your look overall, I like it. Also, what size wheels are you running? Race Trim Yes, I added a 1/4 inch red pinstripe around the outside lip, along with some red lugs. These are just for track days. They are 18x9.5 +40 offset on all 4, with Kuhmo V710's in the 285 width. They fit beautifully at all corners. I have the MS suspension as well.
