I haven't fully investigated yet, but it seems that there is a gaping hole above my license plate that opens into the entirety of the hollow rear bumper?
In any case, it seems deep and unneccesary -- anyone know what this is all about?
Whole chinchillas could disappear into this orifice! If you think you hear squeaks now...

yeah mine has that too. it is where the rear lic plate light is at. it is normal. it is there so the lic plate light will shine down.

I looked for this when I was at my dealer this Saturday and the hole is just big enough for my fingers and half of my hand to fit. I think this is very odd b/c shouldn't there be a clear plastic cover (or something else) to protect against anything from getting inside that hole?

Ahh, but with the hole open, anything in there can get out . . . like Chinchillas and water. ;)

I am glad the hole is there, when I installed the sensor for my laser shifter to the top of the license plate there was already a place to run the wire.

The whole piece pulls right out and I changed the light from the stock to white
