WHich of the ones listed do you like the most and why?

Rallying. My favourite spectator sport of all time, not to mention a lot of fun as a competitor, too.

Close second for in-your-face overload is a tie between F1 (so loud your ears will ring) and Top-Fuel dragsters (so loud you can feel the noise on your chest as they go by).

F1, no question, i just wish the races weren't so early in the mourning

I like GT but I take my hat off to WRC. The elements & prep and how the cars are so dynamically effected win me over. You can DNF because you kick up a rock that's just too big and hits the wrong place. It distributes chance and the skill of the driver, car, and team more widespread than anything else imo.

Nascar gets a last-place vote :)

None of the above - I like autocrossing. Why would I want to watch racing when I could actually *be* racing?

After that, go-karts. Much more viscerial; after 20 minutes in one of those things I'm sweating, my hands are cramping up, and I'm sore all over. But it's a rush!

After doing those I no longer have any interest in watching any racing. It just makes me anxious for the next autocross.

I've been to watch but never participated (I'm not taking the maxima autoxing with stock suspension, that's for sure). If I go the 8 route, I think I'll have to.

WRC all the way for me. Nothing is more exciting than negotiating hairpin turns and doing a beautiful four wheel drift across a gradual turn; or the rush of going through tight single lane roads at insane speeds.

IMHO, they have the best looking cars too. They look almost stock.

The closer they are to the production versions the better I like it.

You forgot JGTC (Japanese Grand Touring Championship! Oh yeah, touring cars racing all the way, with Rally being second.

First of all, TIVO is almost necessary for the committed race fan. Especially those of us who watch F1 ;).

Nascar is not my favorite, and Daytona and Talledega races are absolutely BORING. But the coverage is as good as it gets, and they really have to drive those cars on road courses and short tracks. Ironically, the races that are normally not on FOX or NBC, but their respective cable channels (FX and TNT), are the best Nascar races of the season. If you are judging them on a Daytona, or even this past weeks Indy 400, don't completely disregard them until you see them run at Bristol, or Richmond, or Martinsville, or Watkins Glen this week.

I watch CART and F1 religiously, because they have a technology factor that combines with the human factor, which I find fascinating.

But my favorite are the touring series. They normally race cleaner and more professionally than Nascar (when they will wreck someone when they run out of talent). And even though the different makes of cars are modified to offer the most level playing field possible, they still have different characteristics. And so, one car will be stronger at one section or track, while another will be stronger at another section or track. It is very entertaining watching these guys try to make the best of their advantages and disadvantages, it allows for passing and overtaking.

The other thing I like about touring series, and series like Toyota Atlantics, is that they will normally have a better chance of passing on a track than CART or F1. The major series are sooo fast, that they need a long track to offer several real good passing opportunities (such as Road America). But the slower series can take advantage of some passing zones that the faster series can't, and so they have more passing opportunities, and better racing.

Actually, it doesn't come close. The SCCA is involved in ProRally, Club Racing, Solo I, Solo II (autocrossing), Pro Solo, and more. There's way more to the SCCA than just autocrossing. Also, there are lots of autocrosses that have no affiliation with the SCCA. Ice rally, hill climb, Mazdaspeed Miata Cup... on and on...

touring cars, for sure.

F1 is cool and everything, and the technical aspect is brilliant, but it's just far too much like a soap opera to me... it's really lost touch with it's roots.

karting is easily the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Speed channel also carries most of the Grand Am Touring races (also delayed).

Last year, during the off-season, Speed channel replayed the BTCC (British Touring), JGTC (Japanes Touring), European Touring, DTM, and Australian V8 series. But they had compressed the feeds of the Australian V8 and European series so much that everything was jittery and shifted, and at times unwatchable. It was pathetic. I hope they don't to that again this year.

Grass roots, baby! The big events aren't for real. If you can't walk the pits, you're just a spectator, a fan with a camera & binoculars. Now who prrefers to be a spectator? Wouldn't you rather be striking a conversation with a team owner? A tire guy? An engine builder? A driver?

I can't vote - I'm a huge F1 fan, CART is OK, but I can't stand IRL and an oval-only series. Lumping them together in one category is a mistake, since they have so little in common beyond the superficial appearance. IRL is much closer to NASCAR.

Where's the motorcycle road racing choice? Motorcycles are AUTOmobiles. They just happen to be 2-wheeled automobiles. :D

So far the results are similar to my preference:

Rally followed closely by open wheel and the touring series. BTW..I hate Nascar. :)

I choose the Open Wheel - F1, Indy, Cart, etc. I like seeing some driver skill. Also I like hearing those high reving machiines. :D

No offense to the Nascar fans, but IMO, there isn't too much skill driving in a circle and all the turning you have is a left hand turn.

Rally would be exciting, however, it needs much more exposure. I never really seen a rally event, live or televised.
