Well I've been lurking around for a few weeks on here, reading, researching, searching and getting a feel for whats going on. I've decided to trade in my 05 Mazda 3 sport GT for an RX-8, but have a few questions to you, the worlds largest group of experts on the car. Here they are.

1) I'll be picking up a used 04 GT 6 Spd most likely, with between 25,000 and 35,000 Km on it (15525 mi - 21735 mi). What do I need to watch out for when at the dealership? What problems do these cars exibit?

2) I live in Calgary AB, and in the winter it can get pretty damn cold. ( - 35 C / 49 F is not unusual for a few days at a time before it warms up again) Does the 8 have any real problems with cold weather? or more importantly, the rotary engine?

3) For those of you living in Canada, what would be a good price on a used 8 with the above mentioned mileage on it (Sorry guys from the US, cant convert US into CDN $ because the cars are way cheaper in the US!!!! Not an accurate quote for me.) So far, from what I've found prices range from $32,000 - $36,000 CDM (Thats $27,581 - $31,029 US)

Any help you can throw my way would be great.

Thanks!

umm..not to be rude, but you clearly didnt search enough or read alot. Problems, cold weather, rotory engine issues, its been OVER discussed. Someone from Canada can let you know about prices, but you arent going to find many people here who want to rehash the questions you have about porblems etc. because there are about a bunch of threads covering this already. the "Issues and Problems" section might be a good place to start...

How is -35 C = 49 F?

I dont think you should pay more then 28-29 k for an 04 with 30k+ km, you can probably get a new 05 for like 34-35, mabyee lower in the next few months., I have seem them on the buy and sell locally for about that price.

On another subject, you can get a USDM STI imported for about 37-38k before tax, that is currently the choice I am facing, STI better for bad weather, RX-8 beter looking better balance... hummmm, if the USD keeps tanking and the CAD goes to 90 cents I think the STI would be a sweeter deal

Also for the post above I guess what is tring to say is that yes there are some problems with cold weather and you should look into it
