Are ther any other chumps like me that put thier shit away for the winter thinkin it was gunna snow? I live in NY but dont have a garage to put it in, but i do have access to one in PA. So right after thanksgiving, I took a trip ti PA. It was a nice ride, saw another 8 on the way and we both cruised for a while together, dippin in and out, it was cool. Anyway, i thought it would start to get really cold soon and possably even snow. But, now I'm kinda hatin myself for bringin it. It's unseasonably nice out lately.AURGH! not to mention my body kit is sittin in storage waitin to get put on. i bought it after i drove it up their. I'm so thinkin of getin' it and puttin the kit on and drivin it back B4 it snows, but with my luck it will snow overnight after i get back.

I live in ny, I have a garage, but I leave it outside because it's convenient to just warm it up and then go. I got snow tires on and that has proven to be a worthwhile investment.

I have waited for weeks... months to test this car in the snow.

I love my car but I don't love it that much to baby it to THAT level, hehe. plus its a daily driver so i haven't a choice but to drive it all year round.

Juice,

All of us that have to drive our 8's every day THANK YOU so much for putting your car away for the winter. Seems like that's what's keeping the snow away! I bought my daughter ski pants as an extra insurance policy!

On a more serious note, I too have a garage, but street park my car for the convenience thing. Plus I like to look out my window and admire it. I drive my car everyday except when it ices like it did Saturday night. I look at it this way, I might not be here to drive it tomorrow so I'm going to drive it everyday that I can. I couldn't stomach paying a ridiculous car payment and an even more ridiculous car insurance payment every month and not drive it. When it gets looking rough around the edges, I'll have it painted. If it gets a dent, I'll get it fixed. Life's too short not to drive it!

Enjoy!

I put mine away just before the first snowfall back in October. Go figure 2 days after that it was 70 out for like a week. They salt the hell out of the roads here and I have about a 90 mile round trip to work so my 8 is safe from all winter (and really bad drivers) have to dish out.

I have my 8 sitting in the garage, and I drive a beater on bad weather days. This morning my beater's battery died though, so I had to take the 8 out. At least it's not snowing!

I live in NY as well. I only have a one car garage I lost the bet with my wife so she gets the garage in the winter, I get it in the summer. Anway, I drive my 8 as a daily driver. Just got some snows for it and I was surprised at how well it handles in the snow. Was not expecting this from a RWD car. I have never put snows on any car I have owned just all seasons. Boy do they make a differance. I think every car FWD or RWD should have snows in the winter, maybe we wouldn't have so many accidents.

I drive my 8 year round up here in NH. I throw my snows on in early Nov and have had no issues getting around with the snow. I do wash my 8 at least once a week during this time of year to keep the salt/sand/grime down to a minimum, but its hard.

Glad I have a garage to park my 8, 2 Miata's, and Lexus in :mdrmed:

sure, I could do that, then never get laid. She would have to get up early and brush the snow off her car and be miserable all day becasue my car is the garage. Im not stupid, and besides, a bets a bet. Happy wife = Happy Home :wiggle:

No garage, no more winter beater. I drive my `8 year-round (using Blizzack LM-22s in the winter). Would love to have a garage to keep off the snow, rain and occasional sun when at home, but my farm does not have such a feature.

I drove a rusty winter beater that I hated year-round for many years. Now I'll drive a nice car I enjoy year round instead.

I rines the salt off about once a week. I did my best to year on the wax before winter.

Remember it's your castle (until you get divorced)!Off-topic, out-of-line and not our business. You don't seriously mean you'd take one spot in the garage because 'you're the man', do you? What kind of relationship would that be?

Ah, I get it! You're kidding, right? Very funny!

Seriously, sounds like they worked it out fair - he said they had a bet.

Look, when i was growin up my father ran things. I'm not sayin' my mother was miss silent and obediant, nor am i sayin my pops was the end-all-be all. I'm just sayin' that chicks get to do a lot of things and it's o.k. ie: make out with each other to drive us insane, get out of tickets ( among other things ) by showin' cleavage, etc. I'm makin' a stand here and now! Men reclaim your balls and stand up! Don't trade in your 8's for minivans, don't buy tampons, and don't let them thretin you with "not gettin' any". If they wont put out awake, wait unitl their asleep.

My 8 has Blizzaks (LM22) but I only drive it when there is no salt on weekends and out of town trips. My commute is only 5 miles and 8 minutes so I hate not really warming it up.
The garage holds the 8, my wife's new Forrester and my hand-me-down commuter; a Protege 5 (2002). That and a metal lathe, radial, band and table saws along with a mower, snowblower, trimmer etc. etc. It's a mess.

My 8 is garaged up in Wayne County, PA. I sublet a room in Hillsborough, NJ, as it is closer to my work (Piscataway). I've been driving a 96' Pontiac Grand Prix w/ 221,000 miles on her since October; handling is just a bit off from the 8. :uhh:

Seriously though, the withdrawals are getting worse everyday. Are there any 8 support groups nearby for this?

I decided to take my 8 out of storage this past Saturday; what a bad idea. I had it stored at my parents house in Scranton, so, I drove up with the winter beater on Friday night, slept over, got up at 7 AM on Saturday to get my new Kumho SPT's installed; while waiting for the tires to be installed a nasty snow squall rolled into the area. After the tires were installed the squall seemed to be slowing down so I said to myself, "What the heck, let me give it a try, I've never driven the 8 in the snow and now I can see what all those summer tires in the snow stories are about first hand". Three minutes later the 8 was parked on the side of the road and my 4 wheel drive ride was on the way.

Persistence pays off; five hours later I returned to the 8 and drove it back to NJ. Here's hoping to a mild rest of winter :beer05:
