Hi all,

I have just found out that Mazda is selling an Aux-in module for SGD$99. According to them, they say it is compatible with the RX8 headunit. Did anyone install this? According to the parts department, it is out of stock now.

But my car is a PI one, thus they will not entertain me :(

I installed one myself using the Auxmod. My question is, is the one from Mazda the same? Press the MD/Tape and it shows "Tape ^" as well? Or does it show "Aux"? Maybe Mazda Motors also bought from Syflex?

When I call on Friday, the parts guy from Mazda say it is out of stock. Maybe we should organise a group buy and get RX866 to buy for us.

Don't think there is any difference in price for "group buy" from MM. Anyway, I'm sure they will ask you for your car's VIN to make sure they sell to MM 8 owners only. Hopefully RX666 can make some special arrangements or pull up some MM 8's VINs to help out the PI 8 owners.

I just called MM earlier today. Parts guy said they tested and checked the Aux Input and it does not work on the RX-8. Anyone else got similar findings?? What's the story here?

The parts guy at MM did say that the one they have (out of stock) works on the 3 (or 6 I can't remember coz I stopped paying attention once he said it doesn't work on the 8...lol). So that's why I'm curious to find out if anyone here got his/her aux in mod from MM.

Yo bro flyer, we do a group buy from oversea with the MCS guy. price wise can't really remenber. Me DIY (very easy 30 - 45 min job, plug & play). but i know that's there is this guy who brought in (after we group buy) some Aux mod and selling cheaper than MM ( from wat he claim, posted on MCS).

if time permit will try come 4 my last meetup after that no more time (expecting 2 be a father some time this week)

Pagin BROTHER matrix11, have u check out the price yet.

for me the wait for auxmod was not that bad. about 2wks on wait list, and 2 wks for the auxmod to arrive after payment. all in all, from indication of interest to receipt of goods about 4 weeks.

MM's Aux-In mod doesn't work for our 8s, that's what I've been told by one of the parts guy at MM unless he's wrong. So where else can we get the Aux Mod? Can someone provide some links or contacts persons?

Wow this is getting very complicated. Let me summerise...

I DID call Mazda Parts department and the guys DID say the AUX in module from Mazda does work for RX8.

Flyer re-confirm with Mazda and now Mazda say CANNOT work.

If the Mazda Aux in cannot work, than the choice is to get the Aux Mod from www.sylfex.com. I may wait for the Auxmod advance.

OR

From Amplify's source from MCS.

* If you look at the Japanese website

http://www.mazda.co.jp/customize/web_cat/rx-8/rx-8.html

Top right hand side choose Audio System.

At the bottom right you can see what seems like an Aux in. I will check with my PI what is this part....

Update, I called MM again and spoke to a different parts guy who also said the Aux Mod from MM does not work for our 8s. I also called M.A.U Car Accessories and they are sold out on the Aux Mod as well. So basically, we have to wait for stock at sylfex. I guess I'll wait for the AuxMod Advance to be launched. If anyone is interested to get together, just PM me.

i ordered directly from syflex and used to pay US$50 for the auxmod basic and US$9 for postage (about slightly less than S$100). think auxmod basic costs US$60 now. hence should be US$69.

If you got the auxmod thru the MCS MO like me, then it's $92. I believe M.A.U Car Accessories used to charge $99, but heard now it's $150 with installation.

It doesn't say it CAN control the iPod. In fact, I think it specifically says it can't. It's just an "Aux In" mod... If you want track control, gotta get the Neo iOn SP or similar products.

it provides only a RCA input (ie. audio only). nothing more nothing less.

Hi Yellow Cab, if you want to control your IPOD, you can look at what SQFLYer have recommended or the PIE Adaptor. Do a search in the Audio section.

The reason why I am looking at these solution is because, in order to use the NEO or PIE adapter, your headunit firmware version needs to be 9.55 and above. My headunit firmware version is lower than that, thus cannot use.

You can check your headunit version by pressing a combination of keys (can't remember) do a search at the audio section....

hi, have been struggling with the right/best way to hook up my ipod - checked with MM yesterday and they were quite clear that the aux in unit does not work with the MM Rx-8s. The Griffin i-trip is a complete let down. Regards.
