I currently have your Center Console piece...I love it...I am most likely going to join in to get the knee pads

curious if you are ever going to reproduce the door arm pad...I don't know if you ever did produce it specifically for the 8 but my buddy has one from you guys (maybe designed for a different car, but I don't think so) and it is great...really makes the drive much more comfortable.

Do you still have that piece? can you work it into this group buy? thanks!

hmm I can't remember what it looks like exactly but I would have remembered if it looked bad

I just remember the height of the arm rest was perfect after it was installed...I didn't have to suspend my arm...would be great for long drives

my friend who owns it is now on these forums so I'll have him chime in, he wants the Knee pads anyway from you guys so this group buy is perfect...I'll email him this thread link ASAP

I have the console knee pad and like it. Just test fit it before you use the velcro. I have short legs and mounting it higher works better for me.

I have never been in a car with a supportive knee pad, does it really help with your knee being less strained.

Also bought the armrest in the first group buy and love it. It gave a better height adjustment for resting your elbow for shifting.

I bought the knee pad through a previous group buy with Angelo and I have to say his products are top notch. I installed my knee pad a few days ago and love it.

Helps relieve the pressure point on my right knee against the radio console. I did have to adjust the pad a bit from what was shown in the instructions. Find a position that is comfortable for you and you'll truely enjoy this knee pad.

Thanks "4 years to Supercharge" for the comments. I can't wait to see pics of the door armrest. How do you like the door armrest? Eyecrazy? I'm thinking of redesigning it and relaunching it if there is enough demand. Let me know who would be interested.

As for the center console pad, I wouldn't say it puts a strain on the hinge. If it hits the passenger seat when you open it, there is a chance the lid may not "stay up." In all my installs, this has not been an issue.

I wouldn't mind having a pad on the door armrest but the one I see in the photos looks way to thick. It looks like it would be too high. I'm tall and have the seat all the way down which means my elbows are lower in the car than most peoples, so any thick pad would push my shoulder up unnaturally.

I've used the door elbow rest before from Zeta and it is just the right height for me, I'm 6ft tall

I'd say it would work for 6ft 3 inches or lower...but I could be wrong as that is just a guess

If this will help, we are developing a pad for the new Miata that may work for you. It's about 1/2" thick, 2" wide and 8" long. What do you think?

Zeta Products, Inc.Mine arrived. They look real nice. My car's interior is about 20F right now so too cold to mess with adhesives, but I'll run the heater for a while and do some test fits. Always fun to do these things will all the doors and windows shut and the engine and heater running, but that's winter for ya. :rolleyes:

At least I'm not having to get into any wiring under the dash in weather like this. That results in the two excellent choices of 1) freeze from the waist down, 2) recline the front seats fully and get into them upside down with your feet against the rear window. ;)

Almost forgot to say - thanks for the quick service and thanks for running the group buy! I'd been on the fence about getting these two products and your promotion (and price incentive) here was the deciding factor.

ZOO5, I checked the armrest height and I think I would need a rather thin pad similar to the 1/2 inch one you showed or a little bit thicker - but not much more. I might consider one in black if they become available, although I think it would be a better match to the interior if it had curved edges instead of the square-edges of the Miata pad. Thanks for considering it.

The pad will be black when it becomes available. To save costs, all our foams are black to match just abount any interior. Like Henry Ford said, "Any color you want as long as it's black."

Thanks, ZOO5. I don't consider a pad on the armrest a huge a comfort issue as I really don't apply that much pressure there, unlike the console along with the shifting. My arm rests nearly flat on the door unlike others who may put pressure on their elbow or those whos arms don't reach the armrest. But if a thin pad is available I may consider getting one.

I'm convinced that the Mazda engineers don't have elbows. Seriously, after a long drive in my RX-8, my old Miata ('94), my friend's less old Miata ('00) and a new Miata, I'm absolutely shocked at the lack of padding for elbows.

Anyway, I bought the center console pad and love it and now would like door armrest pads. However, looking at the simple block designs earlier in this thread, I can't help but think how un-OEM they look. One of the best parts of the center console design is that it could've shipped like that straight from Mazda.

So, using an earlier picture, here is what I've come up with. It's crude, but I think the general idea gets across. Essentially, the pad would be thickest on top where you rest your elbow (I bet something like 1/2" would be enough) but then a thin portion extends down along the door matching where there currently is a line on the door. This way it'll blend in a lot better and will get that OEM look, yet also be very functional.

Let me know what you think. If this can be done for a similar price as your other pads, I'm in!

Finally installed my console armrest and console knee-pad. Global warming is here - it was ~50F in upstate NY today. Comfortable weather to hang out in the car for a while.

The knee-pad is fabulous. I rate it 'life-changing'. I'd gotten into the habit of resting my gloved fingers between my bony knee and the console on freeway trips (or more and more, any time when not shifting). I played with the position fo a while before removing the adhesive on the velcro. Found a place where my knee rests comfortably whether I'm on or off the pedal.

I never found myself to put a lot of pressure on the console with my elbow. Perhaps that's because I've driven with my winter leather coat almost since my first day with my `8. However, my 2-year-old was buckled in the right-rear when I did this installation and as soon as I set the pad into place she pointed and said, "Triangle! Triangle on that!" I'm trying to teach her to say rotor (like on the PoLaK club decal, like on the key-chain....), but she knows what a @$&#ing triangle is and seems disappointed by my ignorance.

Anyway, they're both great. Loving every minute of them.

My knee pad arrived yesterday and I installed it today. I ended up installing it in a different orientation than the one shown in the installation instructions. Mine is esentially upside down and backwards (the fat end of the taper is toward my feet) and a higher than the picture. Very comfortable and useful this way.

Also, we would then need to make a left and right part to satisfy the right-hand drive owners. More expense. We have sold quite a bit of our center console armerst pad in the UK so we would have to consider that too.

What would you guys pay for something like this?


I'm convinced that the Mazda engineers don't have elbows. Seriously, after a long drive in my RX-8, my old Miata ('94), my friend's less old Miata ('00) and a new Miata, I'm absolutely shocked at the lack of padding for elbows.

Anyway, I bought the center console pad and love it and now would like door armrest pads. However, looking at the simple block designs earlier in this thread, I can't help but think how un-OEM they look. One of the best parts of the center console design is that it could've shipped like that straight from Mazda.

So, using an earlier picture, here is what I've come up with. It's crude, but I think the general idea gets across. Essentially, the pad would be thickest on top where you rest your elbow (I bet something like 1/2" would be enough) but then a thin portion extends down along the door matching where there currently is a line on the door. This way it'll blend in a lot better and will get that OEM look, yet also be very functional.

Let me know what you think. If this can be done for a similar price as your other pads, I'm in!

I think that the only requirement for me would be that it pads the elbow sufficiently. I'd guess that 1/2" would be okay, but I think you'd know better than I would.

We got a warm spell a few weekends back and I put my console pad on. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it ! Makes it the perfect height for resting your arm with your hand on the stick. I'm starting to seriously consider the knee pad too.

Got mine in the mail and installed it today. The defects are exceptionally minor, they look like they were probably tiny air bubbles. Visible standing with the pad in my hand in the kitchen, but unnoticable once it's installed.
Didn't take long at all to readjust my leg to resting on the pad instead of holding it up. I dig it!

Personally, I'd want the pad to follow the lines that are already there. So, I'd think a 1/2" pad that looked like this would be ideal. However, maybe I'm the only one that thinks this? Still, anything that looks a little more OEM would be better in my mind.

I installed both the door and console knee pad this winter. Truthfully I didn't use them at all during the winter. Now that it is Spring, I found myself using them when pulling around cloverleafs on the highways. This is a must for anyone that pushes the car (#) in the turns and feels like they slosh around in the drivers seat. :D:
