View Full Version : anyone flooded their engine?? orange0303 12-12-2005, 09:19 PM damn....now i am scare to drive the car to work or whatever, i scare it will die on me again, anyone could help? HiTMaNN 12-12-2005, 09:24 PM Dont be scared the new flash should have fixes that problem BUT if you dont want it flooded make sure you do no cold starts. Meaning dont start you car for 10 seconds and turn it off. That is one of the main causes of the engine flooding. Always wait like 3-5 minutes for the car to warm up before you drive it. Stuff you should already be doing with the car but you know that. carbonRX8 12-12-2005, 10:25 PM http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=78303 RX4life 12-13-2005, 05:38 AM ive flooded my engine once (after the latest flash) and have ALMOST flooded it numerous times.. im religious about revving the car to 3K and shtting it off..always let the car warm up.. and have let my dealer know that i have had hard starting issues numerous times.. they dont want to replace my battery or my ignition..the only answer i get from metrotown mazda service desk for any issue is....no problem talk to service manager if you have problem..useless.. will try signature mazda for next serivce.. herbert 12-13-2005, 08:06 AM damn....now i am scare to drive the car to work or whatever, i scare it will die on me again, anyone could help? Are you saying that you did flood your engine? Under what circumstances? Did you not warm it up prior to shutting down? G)(O 12-13-2005, 11:36 AM ive flooded twice... and yesterday happened to be the second time, yet every time i bring my car in the service department at erin mill mazda tells me I dont need the new flash and they wont give it to me MrJynx 12-13-2005, 02:34 PM that's strange that you've flooded it twice.. I have personally never flooded and i've had it since jun '04. If you wait for it to warm up completely before turning it off (needle in the middle of the gauge) it will never flood.. But that's important!!! and if your really scared about flooding, rev the engine up to 5k and turn it off when it get to 5k, let the engine spin down before you release the clutch, that's another good way of clearing the engine of gas. Again, if you do the rev up to 5k and then turn off the car, don't take your foot off the CLUTCH!!!! :) MrJynx orange0303 12-13-2005, 06:45 PM i didn't flood my engine. the bodyshop did it..my was was in the shop for 2 days and they flooded, and now my engine sound different now when is starting... anyone could help? StealthTL 12-13-2005, 06:53 PM G)(O, have you had the fuel tank recall done? The WDS flash to "R" is a part of the recall, look for a sticker underhood, or on the doorjamb, service # ends in R. S orange0303 12-13-2005, 08:08 PM after they deflood my engine, my engine sound different now SaugaBoy 12-13-2005, 08:38 PM ive flooded twice... and yesterday happened to be the second time, yet every time i bring my car in the service department at erin mill mazda tells me I dont need the new flash and they wont give it to me I strongly suggest to you, and i'm sure others would to, FORGET THE NAME AND LOCATION OF ERIN MILLS MAZDA, and find another dealer. I live up the street from them, and I go to Ontario Mazda in the Dixie/401 area. Be very scared of Erin Mills, very scared. Ontario Mazda will flash your car if it hasn't recieved the new one yet. orange0303 12-14-2005, 04:33 AM anyone had their starter replaced and battery? dema 12-14-2005, 11:02 PM a new batterie...1000cca.....the high speed starter......that's will be fix all my cold start problem.... this morning it was -22...and my car start very quikly.....like summer season. :ylsuper: sorry for my bad english.... rotten42 12-15-2005, 01:37 AM I've never flooded my car...and I even have temped fateh bt doing the quick "move the car from the driveway to the garage" without any warm up. And where did you get it? kowalski 12-20-2005, 10:13 PM ive been trying to get this for the last 2 services .. i have almost flooded my engine like 10 times... and yes AGAin.. i do do the rev thing before shtting the engine... for some reason my car loves to start up in the morning..when its cold.. nice roar.. but midday after school it hesitates.. Yeah, I'm with you there... always starts great first thing in the morning, but starting it up to come home from work makes it crank a little (maybe for 3 or 4 seconds before it starts). I was flashed up a couple of months ago too. Anyone else observed this??? RX4life 12-21-2005, 05:41 PM ^^ its funny cause most peeps on this forum have problems starting the car first thing in the morning... in my case its the opposite..i love to start it in the morning..i get that deep BROOOOM roar...sounds like i got something crazzzy under the hood and then it calms down...starts as soon as i turn the key.. oh well.. imma try a different serivce department in March.. see if they can deal with it. samyv2 12-21-2005, 06:01 PM Do you have the new starter? HOw about the new battery? Are the plungs in good shape? orange0303 12-21-2005, 10:43 PM they said now they will order me a new starter... RX4life 12-22-2005, 07:32 AM orange do you service yours at Signature? kowalski 12-26-2005, 08:58 PM .... and if your really scared about flooding, rev the engine up to 5k and turn it off when it get to 5k, let the engine spin down before you release the clutch, that's another good way of clearing the engine of gas. Again, if you do the rev up to 5k and then turn off the car, don't take your foot off the CLUTCH!!!! :) MrJynx This may be a stupid question but ... is the only reason you're saying keep your foot on the clutch because you might be in gear and you don't wonna smash the front of your car against the inside of your garage ... or is that something to do with clearing the gas??? Also, has anyone had their starter or battery replaced at North Hill Mazda because of slow starting problems? Were they OK to replace them or did they resist?? RX4life 12-27-2005, 07:50 AM ^^ im with him.. is this beneficial in some way or just a useless way to burn clutch?? orange0303 01-04-2006, 12:13 PM wo0t, they put in a new starter, HOLLY SH*T, the car run smoother then when i bought the car...lol :) RX4life 01-05-2006, 06:22 AM where did you get it done? MrJynx 01-05-2006, 10:31 AM This may be a stupid question but ... is the only reason you're saying keep your foot on the clutch because you might be in gear and you don't wonna smash the front of your car against the inside of your garage ... or is that something to do with clearing the gas??? Also, has anyone had their starter or battery replaced at North Hill Mazda because of slow starting problems? Were they OK to replace them or did they resist?? Well if you rev it up, take the clutch out it will engage the gear and your car will launch forward even if it's turned off :) It doesn't burn the clutch because it's fully depressed and not engaged.. Sooo, i stored my 8 for most of december and over the weekend it was actually not to bad out temp wise.. so I thought i'd take the 8 out for a quick spin around the neighborhood.. So i get in the car and noticed that the steering wheel was up a bit and was in gear (where i parked it there is no incline or decline so i leave it in neutral). So i think hmmm someone drove my car, go to start it.. nothing happens, I try again let it crank for about 10seconds and still nothing.. So now i'm a little concerned.. I go inside and ask my dad, hey did you move my car? He was like "uhh yea, i had to move the car about 2 feet into the carport" .. so i asked did you let it warm up!!! he said well no i just moved it two feet.. AHHHHHHHHH, i've told him every single day NOT TO DO THAT!! and he still did it!! So now my car has joined the engine flooded club :( dammit! alcimedes 01-05-2006, 01:33 PM I'm in MN (granted not quite as cold as Canada) but had similar hard start issues. Got the battery/starter/plugs replaced and it's like a totally different car when it's starting now. Turns over with like a snap, no more struggle. orange0303 01-05-2006, 02:26 PM where did you get it done? west coast mazda.. it took them 2 weeks to find out is the starter, WHICH I TELL THEM WAS A STARTER AT THE FRIST PLACE... gay mazda |
