I'm getting my brother-in-law to install two 900 watt 12" subs in my trunk. :) Just wondering if it was too much. We're building the enclosure today around noon. Am I going overboard with the twelve's?

Today is gonna be a long day. TxRx8 12-11-2005, 09:36 PM They're in! Got up at 11 am, headed to Home Depot. Bought some MDF 3/4" wood. Liquid Nails, and some heavy duty screws. Went downtown bought a 1600 watt amp and then this happened... http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/8269/12110516272yq.jpg http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/8417/12110516291rm.jpg http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/4760/12110518299dy.jpg http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/2951/12110519347mj.jpg http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/2622/12110520366gc.jpg Started the project at around 1 pm and finished around 8 pm. nyrican 12-11-2005, 09:50 PM It came out real nice. I myself have two 12's and amp sitting in my garage and I was wondering how to make them fit. Can you tell what dimensions your box has? TxRx8 12-11-2005, 09:51 PM It came out real nice. Dude, we threw away the dimensions, I'll call my bro-in-law and get 'em for you. djseto 12-11-2005, 09:52 PM I assume you arent going for overall sound quality?I love bass, but 900 watts and a pair of 12"....you're never gonna use 900 watts of power..and if you do..your ears might just bleed TxRx8 12-11-2005, 09:55 PM I assume you arent going for overall sound quality?I love bass, but 900 watts and a pair of 12"....you're never gonna use 900 watts of power..and if you do..your ears might just bleed I was driving around with the subs at half power and I got disoriented! The overall sound quality is awesome. But the bass will knock over the cars next to me if I want it to. :) nyrican 12-11-2005, 10:23 PM Dude, we threw away the dimensions, I'll call my bro-in-law and get 'em for you. It came out pretty sweet, congratz on your new system :) . djseto 12-12-2005, 10:56 AM It was a figure of speech...I know his ears weren't going to literally bleed. (Un)forunately, I was paying attention in my audio/accoustics engineering classes.... RX-8fan01 12-12-2005, 11:39 AM 2 12's .... thats nothing i am in the middle of doing 2 15's and a 3600 watt amp ... i think it may blow the rear window but it will be worth it .... TxRx8 12-12-2005, 12:05 PM  Dayum! 2 15"s! BlueEyes 12-12-2005, 02:51 PM Depends on what you want to hear. If you want a good quality sound, yes. If you want to shake things, and trip car alarms like those queer civic kids who cruise my neighborhood at 2 am, no. TxRx8 12-12-2005, 05:13 PM Depends on what you want to hear. If you want a good quality sound, yes. If you want to shake things, and trip car alarms like those queer civic kids who cruise my neighborhood at 2 am, no. The twelves I admit are too much. I'm keeping them turned down because of all the damn rattling of my wing. The sound is awesome at half tho. Should have gone with one, but it's always good to know I have that little extra something under the trunk. :) mikeb 12-13-2005, 06:37 PM I have two twelves and love it ShadowX 12-14-2005, 07:37 AM If you want to setup off alarms, just put a good exhaust on...my FC sets of car alarms non-stop, those things are worthless. Off-topic, but related, gonna be putting 2 800W 10s in my wife's car, but my RF amp was blown from the factory so I'm waiting for that to come back. Has anyone heard setup like this? Mindtrip 01-05-2006, 01:18 AM Thought u were gonna sell it? RX4life 01-05-2006, 05:27 AM there is no such thing as too much! RX-8fan01 01-05-2006, 12:08 PM yea never too much ... My system is almsot done we are still bondoing the box .... the hardest part is trying to sand it in the car .... cuz it is so big we had to build the whole box in the car ,, i will post new pics as soon as i take them ... XeRo 01-06-2006, 10:30 AM sheesh...bass heads... i guarantee my 2 8W3v2's sound many times better and hit just as hard as all your 12's and 15's...that's to much unless your into what has been mentioned above (attention getting) or SPL comps... too each their own though...but damn...that box for those 15's...HEAVY!!! I have a complet kenwood system with 2 12's that puts out 2K watts no prob:rock: Imidazole 01-23-2006, 09:08 AM Why not share the dimensions so that we can all learn from what you learned? speeddemon32 01-27-2006, 11:04 AM :) jlookretis 01-28-2006, 10:42 AM I have two 10's and my trunk rattles rediculously, anyone have any suggestions as far as dynamat, and where to put it? thanks. |
