Yep it finally happened, sitting at an off ramp in traffic i let off the clutch early and stalled, anyone else joined this exclusive elite club recently? Guess it happens to the best of us. Luckily my 8 was warm so she started right back up. Oh well, just don't tell my girlfriend. :nono:

i'm sad to say, i've stalled it numerous times. i already knew how to drive a stick when i bought it, but it had been a good 5-6 years since i'd driven one, and even then it was never my daily driver. you don't forget how. but you do get rusty :)

Uh, a couple of times I guess - I don't really count or recall them. One of my buddies stalled 3 times in a row by going into 6th instead of reverse. I think I made that mistake once, but didn't stall it. My previous daily driver was a manual so I'm in practice, but, ya know, it happens.

I did stall trying to ease up the 30-degree ramp of onto the flat-bed tow truck. That was the worst because the engine wasn't fully warm, but it didn't flood.

I've stalled mine a few times and I've only driven manual cars all my life. :)

Everybody stalls once in a while. It's no big thing.

If someone can clarify, can you Flood the engine if you've accidentally stalled but cranked it right back up??
I would think that the plugs would get saturated only after enough time was allowed for the rich mixture to condensate, even in a unwarmed chamber, i.e. shutting the engine down cold and leaving it that way for a while.

I read that yesterday too. There were replies that if you start it right back up after stalling with a cold engine, then there is a much less chance of flooding occuring. I don't know if there is no chance at all however.

learned to drive manual in my 8 so needless to say tons of stalling....still stall maybe once every few days (( been driving stick about a month and a half or so))

I learned off it...so i stalled all day the first day...every so often the second...rarely the third...i dont do it n e more

I learned to drive on my father's stick shift - 38 years ago. My first car was a stick shift. My last car before the 8 was a stick. Almost every car I've owned in between has been a stick shift. And I used to race sports cars on an amateur basis.

And I still stall it now and then. :sad:

When I first got it I stalled it at least 5 times, I was used to driving my mustang which you can littetarlly start in 4th gear at 1500 RPM's and it will not stall. I had to get used of the non existent torque before I realized I had to give it more gas to get going.

I just stalled this morning.

Yep and it always happens at the most inconvenient time. Like when your in a parking lot of people who are all staring at you getting into your car and leaving, and then...you stall. :(

Yeah I did that once. I also stalled at a light once, but that wasn't too big of a deal.

I had been visiting the forum for several weeks prior to purchasing my 8, so I was well aware of the possible consequences of stalling a cold engine. You folks have me so scared of that, that I am generous with the accelerator for the first few minutes when the car is cold...not high revvvvvsss, but enough to ensure it won't stall. That said, once in a while I still find myself stalling at the most inopportune time such as at a green light where I feel the entire world is eyeballing my beautiful 8...only to have the dunce in the driver's seat not apply enough gas for the clutch action. I am pretty sure I physically shrink in size at that very moment!

haha i have to say i have stalled it....it all happened when i put an aftermarket clutch...it was a horriable ride home;) its so different but i finally got used to it;)!!!

but it does happen...its worse on a bike though!:)

I stalled immediately on my first test drive. All my cars have been manual transmissions since 1974. I stalled again about 2 weeks ago.

I would say this has to be one of the easiest cars to stall simply because the engine runs so smoothly and quietly that when you are new to driving the car it is some times difficult to hear and feel the rpms to know when to let the clutch out.

I find myself having to look at the gauges, especially when I am jamming out and in slow moving high traffic.

I haven't stalled in quite a while now.

It's also very easy to stall this car because although it revs so easily, the revs drop just as quick. It's like driving a car with a lightened flywheel.

I've stalled once in the 4500 miles I've driven the car.

Actually, I find this to be the opposite? Maybe I am used to driving older gen Civic & Accord that to me, this car is actually difficult to stall?

But yes...it does happen...during the most impromptu times (mostly because the passengers wouldn't stop chatting w/ me).... :sweatdrop

my first car was stick. but it had been probably 6 years between that caer and my rx-8 so ive stalled my fair share of times.
like m477 said, this car seems easier to stall for me. maybe i just suck. anyway, it doesnt happen anymore
