I've got scratches on the plastic inside of my tach console. I tried rubbing these to see if it was on the outside, and I can't get them to go away. I'll try some plastic scratch remover, to make sure. But I'm pretty sure they are on the inside....
Anyone have a suggestion on what I might be able to do? I've only had the car 4 days...

What's with all the lint? Is that from the inside too?
Nice macro shot. Those scratches don't seem that bad, maybe it's worse in person...

The lint is from the outside, from me trying to wipe them away, yes, I didn't have a microfiber cloth with me. The lint isn't inside, the scratches aren't that noticible, since it took me a few days to see them, but they are right in front of the speed gage, which kind of pisses me off. Plus I'm pretty sure "I didn't put them there"

It would irritate me. I've taken HiFi kit back to the shop for less.

but you can't exactly take an rx-8 back to the dealer and get a new one for that

Try some plastic polish - Meguiar's makes some, and I think Mothers does as well. Works WONDERS. May actually be on the outside - it's really hard to tell. The polish will tell ya.

Well, Mike Moran at Mazda South again made everything great. They ordered a new lens and replaced it for me. They did a great job of fixing it. The scratch was inside, so there was no way of polishing it out.
In fact they are so good, they even notice that the top of my Console section was also scratch and damaged. I didn't see it because the scratch sits right behind the top of the steering wheel.
Nice manufacturing their Mazda. Well what can you say, they are first series models out of the factory. Hopefully they are just small things.
So Mazda South are also going to order me a new top to that section and also replace it.

I just noticed a small trail of scratches on my sunroof tonight. What a bummer. Only cause I can think of is that I parked near a tree at work today. A squirrel may have chucked some junk out of the tree and rolled it off my sunroof...pretty wild guess really.

Not anything structural, but the sort of thing that eventually would probably have caused one of those annoying rattles that you can never find. Needless to say, it's tight now. :)

Whoa! After seeing that picture I have just the thing that you need to clear that right up. Just grab a little Head 'N Shoulders and lather twice. Darn good stuff that Head 'N Shoulders, although T-Gel works well also. Try it on the left side, and if it's tingling that means it's working. Good luck!
Hey, is that a scratch under the instrument panel?
<grin>
