Hello all:

I m pretty new to the rotary, and the truth, i m not very good with cars either... but does anyone hear this water flow sound when they start the engine??? and when i am waiting for the car to warm up, i step on the gas, hear this water flow sound coming from inside of the stereo or something... anyone know if this is normal?

Also, when i back out from my garage, i also hear this hummm sound, like something engages together,,, wat's that??

Maybe i m just paranoid, but curious about these sounds... can anyone help?

Thanks

yes sounds like it is coming from the gear box right?

you have a manual transmission right? :)

I believe it is just the sound of the transmission fluid fluid and/or excentric shaft churing about until it picks up speed, I don't know for sure though

so no based off this you aren't crazy :mdrmed:

yes i hear that liquid 'splashy/swirly' sound too, but as long as nothing spills out from behind the stereo, i don't mind it :D:

Could very well be air in the cooling system. Coolant flows through the heater core that is located behind the dash. Take the car to the dealer, tell hime exactly what you reported here and that should prompt them to bleed the air out of the cooling system. If they don't come to that conclusion on their own, politely suggest they do that. :)

Missed that part with my last post. What you are hearing is probably the ABS system doing it's check. Not a problem.

Ohhhh.. forgot to mention... since the weather got colder, my coolant lights goes on, but after i drive it, it turns off again. I recently did oil change, and they refilled my coolant too... is this related to that sound that I have?? I hope not, but.... truth usually hurts

i see no reason why you should make a special appointment. just wait until your next service and have them take care of it then. unless its driving you really nuts.

I have the sound too. Can the air in the system cause any problems or performance degredation?

Overheating if there is enough air to create a blockage or too much air is preventing the full coolant capacity.

How do we decide when we need to "burp" it? I have heard this sounds in other cars I have owned too. Is "Burp" a tech term or.... :Wconfused

After the car is warmed up, this sound is gone... only at the early morning... so, i really don't know what this is... next service i'll just get it checked up, if this sound is still there after, then i guess it shouldn't be a problem.

I've had this car for over a year and a half and have this sound occur just about everytime i start the car

I asked the service guys about it a long time ago, they said it was normal (and this service department is outstanding)
