hi guys! i've question about shifting our car with D :scratchhe
i realised it when my friend shift his car with D, the shift number(1,2,3,4)appear :Wconfused
so do you guys think it should appear when i shift it with D?because its never appear except when i used M(semi) :confused:

Mine disappear, in Drive also. Always have.

Mines appear even in Drive and goes up and down as the car shifts on its own. Which is a good thing as it lets me monitor which gear the car is already in in the event I need to go into Manual and downshift.

YOu mean that when its in D, u cant see the gear number? My car has always shown the number in D or M

this is quite strange! and i agree with NgoRX8, its good to knwo wat gear it is in, even when in D mode

Huh?!?! Mine shows 'D' when I drive with D, and numbers when I manual shift. My 8 is an '03.

you guys get a D displayed instead of the gear numbers? my is an 05 build, JDM spec. i'll try and find out from the people with 03 JDMs...very strange in deed

numbers when in M, blank in D, for me. Must be an early build thing. Mine was built Jun '03 iirc.

Mine shows numbers in both D and M, early '04 model. As a side note, the numbers change sometimes a good second or two before the tranny shifts. Anyone experience this? It only makes the shift lag appear worse. Esp. from 3rd to 4th.

Oops! Sorry guys! Hehehehe, just checked and my JDM '03 shows nothing when I drive in 'D' too! Been driving in manual mode too much I guess! :D:

So is there anyone out there who drive in "D" and see's the gear number they are in? I have a 2004 build date of 8/03 and when in full D mode, I only see the D, when in manual-matic, I see the gear numbers.

mostly 03 D don't come with number or letter D, D:blank M:number and 04 both D & M come with number ;)

i have an 05 and in both auto and semi-auto mode numbers show. although in full auto mode the number will go from 3 to 1 if it was in third

I have an 04AT and numbers show in either mode!

Mine is an 04 I get numbers with both.

Mine's an 04 witha build date of 7/03. Mine only shows numbers in M and nothing in D

i think all Rx8 that build date around 03' probably will be no numbers in D although the car is 04' ;)

Build date June 2004, and I get numbers in both M and D.

This is too weird. When in full manual mode, I get the numbers for what gear I'm in. When in full auto mode I just get the letter "D". I wonder what the difference or similarity is between all the models? Some folks with '04's do get the numbers in full auto mode while some other's don't. And to throw another monkey in the wrench, some '05 folks have the same thing.

Mine is an '04 auto (Sept 2003) and it shows only the letter D in automatic and M with gear number in M mode. Go figya'

did you have the thermal damage recall work done? if so then you are on the newest flash which is S for the Automatics.


if not-go get your recall done.
