Post Quarts....

I usually jack up the drivers side, to get a little more out, then it takes about five quarts, (we use litres, and five is too many!)

Do you jack up one side of the car EdvinRX8? You may be getting extra oil out of the oil cooler lines. The oil pan holds 3.8 quarts but the oil system holds more.

The 6 speed RX-8 has an extra oil cooler than the automatic does. More lines = more volume of oil it will hold.

So it is good to change the oil every 3,000 miles since a person can't get all the oil out.

I've heard funny stories about people draining the oil cooler lines to switch to synthetic and not attaching them fully. It makes a huge mess.

The 3.7 qts is an approximation. The amount you need to refill the pan can vary depending on how you drained it. Put in 3 qts and then add a bit, checking the dipstick each time until the oil level reaches the top mark.
