Lol, he put Austin b/c it's the capital, not b/c it's my location. I mentioned FW when I signed up. :)

But I do believe that I'm a little more west than you. :wiggle:

Glyphon & Straight8 have been added...

And Yeah.... We used Capitols of the state and MapQuest for time Distance estimates. It is probably assumed that those are just estimates as Some 8's will be faster than others, Some 8's need lots of potty stops & some 8's don't have a clue how to read maps or road signs! :) We just assumed that the capitols of each state would help to give a good reference of the distance.

Hey Dan, add me to that list. I don't know if I'm coming from VA or NC. If you guys are going to carpool I'll link up with you, but I'm also going to PM all the NC people and see. For now though leave me as NC (Jacksonville represent). Me and Hopefully +1 because I would LOVE to have a date. Ok everyone.....

Official registration ends on July 7th. This cut off date is in place due to our contract with Fontana to guarentee everyone a cabin until that date. We will continue registration up until Aug 1st, but that will only be to guarentee everyone registered gets a Goodie Bag.
So if you have not registered or you are on the fence, TIME IS RUNNING OUT :) !!!

Summary:

July 7th - Official Registration ends, can not guarentee cabin with us at Fontana

August 1 - All registration will close to guarentee everyone a Goodie Bag

Sept 6 - You better already be at the Dragon!!!!! The fun begins!

what is the deadline to reserve a place at fontana village?

BlueGrimRX8
07-19-2006, 12:11 PM
The official deadline for our block has passed. But last year it didn't seem like this was the really busy season so you chould still be able to book one. But I can not guarentee you will get the discount.

When you call tell them you are with our group and you would like to get a cabin close to our block, and it never hurts to ask about the prices (you can check to see what the discounted prices should be on the mazdanow site).

And don't foget to register and pay in order to recieve a goodie bag and raffle ticket, etc.

It's coming up quick! Only 18 days to go!!!

Still unsure if I'll have my car back by then. if I do, I'll likely pick it up tuesday morning and leave straight from there to go up to atlanta the night before. Although this all rides on the weak chance that mazsport can get all the parts in and work done before the 5th (resulting on my own account, not theirs)

hopefully it will be. Rumour has it there's might be some competing RX-8 FI systems up there, and we could draw some nice comparisons on the true driveability of each case.

Although this all rides on the weak chance that mazsport can get all the parts in and work done before the 5th (resulting on my own account, not theirs)

hopefully it will be. Rumour has it there's might be some competing RX-8 FI systems up there, and we could draw some nice comparisons on the true driveability of each case.
if fixed will you still be FI??

I just saw that Pettit Racing decided to debut their supercharged RX-8 up at the Gap with us...how awesome is that!?! Can't wait to get some pics and hopefully order my kit, if they are excepting orders.

parris island huh otro... you little motivator!!! Make sure to stockpile on Mach 3 razors at the recruit PX, they were all sorts of cheap there! Not sure if it's too late or not, but I will officially be +1 (cuz I got game!) she doesn't want a door prize or anything like that, and I think she is only going to be there on the weekend. But MAN I can't wait!!!

HA. Almost I wish. 3 year contract, left December 03. I just hit my halfway point. And this leatherneck has NO intention of staying in. I've got another full yearlong pump coming up. 2/5 years deployed. No thank you if that's what my future holds. B-Billet or not. I'd rather do something where I enjoy coming to work every morning.

Na... Just a take back out highways campaign by highway patrol in Tennessee for the month of August.. We are assuming they will be around some during BOTD but we 8 drivers ALWAYS behave so we are not worried....

Has anyone been to The Dragon yet this year. I have a new motorcycle and so I have to take it there. (The one in my avatar was stolen last Dec.) I was wondering if Tennessee HP is still patrolling it like crazy.

This is from http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

April 4-6: Rain on Friday and Saturday kept many riders away, but the VWs and Crossfires were here enmasse. Sunday was clear and the roads finally dried by early afternoon. Heard of a few warnings being issued by BCSO. They will be here every day so ride/drive accordingly.

The State of Tennessee is spending more than $200,000 of taxpayer’s money to add overtime patrols at the Dragon this summer. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is receiving a $75,000 grant and the Blount County Sherriff Office is receiving $125,000. These grants will last through the summer and end on September 30, 2008.

^I guess that answers it. I will just have to take it easy again. There are other areas in N.C. that I think the roads are better and are rarely patrolled. It is just hard to replace the excitement of The Dragon and I HAVE to initiate my new bike on it.

Killboy.com has reported that the cops have thinned out significantly. He also said that they have been VERY reasonable with the traffic up there lately......no tickets just for the hell of it. You will definitely still have a blast when you go, especially if you go early morning. Also, MAKE SURE you map out a trip across the Cherohala Skyway.......it's a killer ride across the mountain ridges that every rider/driver should try! Have fun, ride safe!
