This is my car that was stolen from my work on July 11th, 2003. I spent four years building it. The only car I want to replace it with is the rx8. I'm picking up my 8 tomorrow July 27th and I'll post pictures.

Bummer bout losing the car. I don't know if you'll get over it, but if anything can replace your old car it'd be the 8. Good thing you had it on order and I hope insureance covers your loss.

Did you have lo-jack. If so, what happend? If not, are you thinking about getting it now? It seems after droping all that dough, a couple hundread (500-700) would be a small price to pay for some extra security.

I've made an appointment next week in anticipation of delivery of my car. I just hope the frickin thing arrives...

It was a 1995 civic so blue book was only 4k. I lost money on all the aftermarket parts because I didn't have speciality item insurance.

I didn't have lojack, I just had some regular alarm. My 8 will have lojack and everyone tells me that getting a kill switch is a good idea.

The civic is so low because it had Air Suspension.

You know whoever stole probably didn't want it, they probably just wanted it off the street. I'd look at the theft from a positive note - think about it, you started with a civic and ended up with an 8! :) I'm curious though, did you park your civic outside, in california? Because that's begging for theft even here in Nebraska, much less cali...factor in normal alarm + no separate insurance for the aftermarket, and even though the theft is crappy and thieves suck, you did a lot to attract them and it sounds like not a whole lot to deter them or protect yourself.

But have fun with the 8. Drive carefully :)

It doesn't matter what your car looked like, it blows that it got stolen - especially when you can't get back all that time and money invested in customizing a car. I just hope that doesn't stop you from modding future cars.

As for the Civic as everyone else has commented on - I think it looks pretty good for a modded civic. It's way more tasteful than any piece I've seen around here in a few months - no giant wing, I can't see a big cookie jar muffler, etc. And if the car's on bags - all the better, it doesn't have to be a speed bump scraper all the time.

I'm not sure why everyone wants to rag on the car - if you're interested in it, you like, you work on it, and you paid for it - rock on. That's what car culture's about. The oldschool vans of the 70s, lowriders, postwar hotrods, roadsters from the dry lake beds, etc. Don't just own it - make it yours. Who gives a $hit what other people think.

You better have one impressive flame suit. That was one of the harshest posts I have read after being on the internet for 10 years. After I read this post, I rolled my eyes and thought to myself, "moron".

I like that car... regular civics are boring, overly riced civics are ugly. You found a nice in between that isn't tacky and, in my opinion, looks good. It's a real shame it got stolen. I think EVERY car should be modded in some way. That is what makes it yours. However, there is that fine line where if you cross it, makes the car look rediculous. Congratulations on knowing where that line is.

Hate to hear you lost your car, but the 8 is a definite step up.

I don't like Civics or the whole four-banger crowd. But for a modded car, I think that is by far one of the better ones I've seen. It looked very clean, and not that obnoxious.

I will always fix up any car I get. I have my rx8 now and I put lojack early warning on it. I also tinted the windows and put two 12inch subs in it.

FYI, The air suspension would raise the car to an exceptable level for driving.

The only obvious error to me on the car is the M3 style side grill and the rear bumper mesh grill is not necessary either.

Those pictures are bad, I would have prefered to not see the car at all if it was mine. Always more painful seeing your pride and joy after the fact.

It did suck but I had to see it when the cops called me and told me they found it

I think it takes a lot of patience to prepare a car the way you like it. I personally don't like the way the honda is put together, but to each there own. If you put your heart into something it means so much more. I bought the RX8 because I don't feel like anything else needs to be done to the car. It's a beautiful machine.

On the otehr hand ... I did have a bmw, and I dropped a large amount of money in both exterior and interior MODS. I guess I've learned my lesson in respects to not getting your money back when it's sold, but the great attraction with the bmw was fun while it lasted. :)


I'm getting the new boomerang alarm system shortly. $400 install, and $12 a month.

well i got a civic too and i must say mike except for the z3 fenders i like ur car its actually really clean..

us civic owners know what it takes to make a nice civic and no matter what we do someone hates on it.

hell i had mine stock for a while and people said i riced out my civic.. i was confused!

sux to get stolen wuda been a nice daily driver in relief for the RX, thats what i plan to keep my Civic for..

Did you do anything to the engine? Funny that they left it, and the seats...

I wonder if they pulled the trick where they strip the car, leave it in otherwise good condition where it will be found, and then pick it up when it is auctioned off by the insurance company.

The car was taken on 7-11-03 and recovered on 07-13-03. I gave it to the salvation army. The blue book was only 4k but I spent over 20k fixing it up. To all those who called me a moron or said the car was just plain ugly, you are immature, insensitive and by no means real car people. For those that showed respect to me even when you don't like hondas or rice rockets, you are the reason I still participate on this forum

Ohhh btw .... I put those grills on my old car too.

I thought they looked good on my bmw.

I always got compliments on it.

Why wouldn't you have just put all that money towards a nicer car in the first place, that way you could be, as you stated, a car lover, with something more than a CIVIC. That's just ridiculous.

1. my condolences. glad you didn't get carjacked/injured during the theft. that would have been worse.

2. your efforts to customize serve us all well, regardless of whether we share your tastes or not. your money and time spent support the aftermarket industry. that makes everyone a winner, even if we spend money on things you wouldn't and viceyversey.

3. this is just another opinion, like all the others shared with us and/or forced upon us... demeaning someone within the group (loosely knit as it is) does nothing but degrade the group. it's cancerous. i figure we're part of a group (auto ENTHUSIASTS) that has some cards stacked against us (environment, fuel costs, safety, bird droppings, etc). furthermore, we, the ROTARY enthusiasts, are a small segment of that group, with cards from the piston segment stacked against us too. seems pretty selfdestructive to break down our own ranks when so many outside forces are trying to also.

Hi Elara, thanks and no, never did. I suppose thats why they ditched the car in the river to wash the fingerprints and any other evidence. What frustrates me is that out of about $3000 added to the car they took $300. Perhaps it was some highschool prank or someone who just had alot of bitterness! Nevertheless, when the RX8 took its space I could not sleep for a week, and I had only just moved to the area. :-(

Actually yes, I would be quite likley to tell somone that they are out of their depth and should leave the gene pool... but what has that got to do with cars....

Another thing to think about, if you put a tracker on your car, and as a result you get it back after it's been stolen and god knows what has happened to it.... would you still want it?

The point of the lojack early warning I put on my 8 for me is I dont ever want to walk out from work or a movie or anything and see my car gone. With the early warning if my phone isn't ringing then my car is right where I left it.

...once you have experienced a theft, it always hard...stock security is never enough. Lojack seems to be pretty good - just alittle exspensive.

I have not been home to the UK in 3 years, but as far as I can remember it was a hobby in N.Ireland to set cars on fire....
