I don't know if you'll get over it, but if anything can replace your old car it'd be the 8. Good thing you had it on order and I hope insureance covers your loss. brothervoodoo 07-26-2003, 09:41 PM Did you have lo-jack. If so, what happend? If not, are you thinking about getting it now? It seems after droping all that dough, a couple hundread (500-700) would be a small price to pay for some extra security. I've made an appointment next week in anticipation of delivery of my car. I just hope the frickin thing arrives... mikeb 07-26-2003, 09:43 PM It was a 1995 civic so blue book was only 4k. I lost money on all the aftermarket parts because I didn't have speciality item insurance. mikeb 07-26-2003, 09:44 PM I didn't have lojack, I just had some regular alarm. My 8 will have lojack and everyone tells me that getting a kill switch is a good idea. brothervoodoo 07-26-2003, 10:00 PM Thanks for the info, sorry about losing your car. I would be really pissed if it happened to me. RodsterinFL 07-26-2003, 11:03 PM dont mean to be stupid but what is a lojack? I just shared on another thread about my RX8 being keyed today - owners of an icon SO I want to step up and prepare for the crazy world we live in. brothervoodoo 07-26-2003, 11:08 PM Originally posted by RodsterinFL ..what is a lojack? Hercules 07-28-2003, 11:42 AM Originally posted by RX8Lover you're better off - that car looks so ghetto. why on earth would you lower the car that much? I was thinking it... you said it. It's too bad you got it stolen but *please* don't do that to the 8... you made the Civic hideous, leave the RX-8 gorgeous :) mikeb 07-28-2003, 12:42 PM The civic is so low because it had Air Suspension. mikeb 07-28-2003, 12:44 PM BY THE WAY I got my rx8 on sunday July 27th. The car is the best in everyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hercules 07-28-2003, 01:01 PM Originally posted by mikeb The civic is so low because it had Air Suspension. It also had M3 style side gills that serve no purpose other than for me to laugh at it :( RX22 08-02-2003, 01:04 PM You know whoever stole probably didn't want it, they probably just wanted it off the street. Please leave the 8 alone, when you guys make a joke out of a car like that it diminishes the value of the whole make and model. I dread seeing the first RX8 that is ruined like that. That's utterly hideous!!! Do you guys really think that impresses people? Every time I see something like that, I just roll my eyes and think to myself, "moron". cueball 08-04-2003, 10:05 AM Bummer about the car. I can't say I really like the "style" of your car, but non the less you still spent countless hours on something you loved and it sucks that some jackass had to steal it. blizz81 08-04-2003, 10:18 AM Hey, it's his RX-8....if he wants to 'trick it out', so be it. I mean, when you see someone acting like a jackass, you don't tell them to go kill themselves for the betterment of humanity, do you? I'd look at the theft from a positive note - think about it, you started with a civic and ended up with an 8! :) I'm curious though, did you park your civic outside, in california? Because that's begging for theft even here in Nebraska, much less cali...factor in normal alarm + no separate insurance for the aftermarket, and even though the theft is crappy and thieves suck, you did a lot to attract them and it sounds like not a whole lot to deter them or protect yourself. But have fun with the 8. Drive carefully :) Boozehound 08-04-2003, 10:29 AM It doesn't matter what your car looked like, it blows that it got stolen - especially when you can't get back all that time and money invested in customizing a car. I just hope that doesn't stop you from modding future cars. As for the Civic as everyone else has commented on - I think it looks pretty good for a modded civic. It's way more tasteful than any piece I've seen around here in a few months - no giant wing, I can't see a big cookie jar muffler, etc. And if the car's on bags - all the better, it doesn't have to be a speed bump scraper all the time. I'm not sure why everyone wants to rag on the car - if you're interested in it, you like, you work on it, and you paid for it - rock on. That's what car culture's about. The oldschool vans of the 70s, lowriders, postwar hotrods, roadsters from the dry lake beds, etc. Don't just own it - make it yours. Who gives a $hit what other people think. You better have one impressive flame suit. That was one of the harshest posts I have read after being on the internet for 10 years. After I read this post, I rolled my eyes and thought to myself, "moron". j1mb0x99 08-04-2003, 11:27 AM I like that car... regular civics are boring, overly riced civics are ugly. You found a nice in between that isn't tacky and, in my opinion, looks good. It's a real shame it got stolen. I think EVERY car should be modded in some way. That is what makes it yours. However, there is that fine line where if you cross it, makes the car look rediculous. Congratulations on knowing where that line is. -JiM j-apex rx 08-04-2003, 12:23 PM statefarm found your car watch out for insurance . just joking you better of with the rx8 anyway.:( :D moogle 08-04-2003, 12:40 PM He lost something he made for 4 years and post it on the rx-8 forum just so he can get flamed. The least you guys can do is trash talk his car...Come on guys we're better than that. Red Devil 08-04-2003, 01:08 PM Hate to hear you lost your car, but the 8 is a definite step up. I don't like Civics or the whole four-banger crowd. But for a modded car, I think that is by far one of the better ones I've seen. It looked very clean, and not that obnoxious. mikeb 08-04-2003, 05:37 PM I will always fix up any car I get. I have my rx8 now and I put lojack early warning on it. I also tinted the windows and put two 12inch subs in it. FYI, The air suspension would raise the car to an exceptable level for driving. The only obvious error to me on the car is the M3 style side grill and the rear bumper mesh grill is not necessary either. Sorry about your loss. -Mr. Wigggles mikeb 08-07-2003, 07:07 PM I just hit 1000 miles in my rx8 today wakeech 08-07-2003, 07:16 PM glad you're still with us mikeb. don't worry about all the "h8" that seems so prevolent. i dont' like the aesthetic either, but i gotta give you respect for that kind of commitment, and that kind of effort to anything automotive. kudos to you man. if you do anything like that to the 8, i might not like it, but damn, it'd probably be one helluva good job. Quick_lude 08-07-2003, 07:51 PM You guys kill me with the harsh comments about this guys car. While I personally don't like the style of the car who the hell are you guys to put him down and tell him what he can/should do to his Civic or RX-8? What is wrong with civics or any other cheaper car? You sound like a bunch of elitist snobs.. It's the same thing as a bunch of guys on a Porsche board talking crap about the RX-8.. Genom 08-10-2003, 04:20 PM I am always amazed at how rude people are on a BBS without realzing it. He can do whatever he wants to his car if he likes it. Calling his previous car that he already said he loved, nasty (among other things) shows an incredible lack of thought. If YOU dont like it dont do it. Dont give other poeple shit cause their tastes are different than yours. mikeb 08-12-2003, 10:36 PM My car was recovered in LA on July 13th here is two pics of remains. mikeb 08-12-2003, 10:36 PM and blustori 08-12-2003, 10:56 PM omgsh... thats terrible dude... sorri to hear. u should carry some weapons or upgrade security. there are ppl around my area that are known to rob parts in cars within 15 minutes... RX8Lover 08-12-2003, 11:02 PM did you notice how the theives decided not to take the ugly m3 fenders? Even theives have taste. LOL. Hercules 08-13-2003, 06:06 AM They don't steal civics because they are good cars you know.. it's because they can sell the parts. j1mb0x99 08-13-2003, 07:14 AM It seems by those pictures that sometimes its better to not even get the car back.... -JiM Red Devil 08-13-2003, 10:09 AM Civics are definite chop shop cars. Those pictures are bad, I would have prefered to not see the car at all if it was mine. Always more painful seeing your pride and joy after the fact. mikeb 08-13-2003, 12:52 PM It did suck but I had to see it when the cops called me and told me they found it Pete 08-13-2003, 01:12 PM I think it takes a lot of patience to prepare a car the way you like it. I personally don't like the way the honda is put together, but to each there own. If you put your heart into something it means so much more. I bought the RX8 because I don't feel like anything else needs to be done to the car. It's a beautiful machine. On the otehr hand ... I did have a bmw, and I dropped a large amount of money in both exterior and interior MODS. I guess I've learned my lesson in respects to not getting your money back when it's sold, but the great attraction with the bmw was fun while it lasted. :) I'm getting the new boomerang alarm system shortly. $400 install, and $12 a month. pete midniteblue 08-13-2003, 01:23 PM wow, to all the people hatin' on his car....how would you like it if another person on this board started calling you out and saying things such as "omg, your sn is so stupid - only a moron would think of a dumb sn like that" or "geez, can your avatar be any more stupid or lame? that is the worse pic i have ever seen" seriously folks, it's his money and he can do whatever he wants with it. The moment you give him the cash to help modify the car, then you can start criticizing his car, but since none of you put any money into cusomizing his car, then please keep the comments on a more civilized level. There are more mature ways to criticize his car than to blatantly say how crappy or ugly it is. I personally dont like it all too much but i do admire the dedication you put into the car. Good luck with any modifications you do on your future cars...and dont forget to add a more high tech security system lol Pete 08-13-2003, 04:31 PM Originally posted by midniteblue wow, to all the people hatin' on his car....how would you like it if another person on this board started calling you out and saying things such as "omg, your sn is so stupid - only a moron would think of a dumb sn like that" or "geez, can your avatar be any more stupid or lame? that is the worse pic i have ever seen" seriously folks, it's his money and he can do whatever he wants with it. Funny that they left it, and the seats... I wonder if they pulled the trick where they strip the car, leave it in otherwise good condition where it will be found, and then pick it up when it is auctioned off by the insurance company. ---jps m477 08-13-2003, 09:36 PM Just goes to show you... rice doesn't pay. That's a tip, kids -- write it down. mikeb 08-14-2003, 12:41 AM The car was taken on 7-11-03 and recovered on 07-13-03. I gave it to the salvation army. Why wouldn't you have just put all that money towards a nicer car in the first place, that way you could be, as you stated, a car lover, with something more than a CIVIC. That's just ridiculous. I hope to GOD you don't rice out the RX8 if you get one. You will indeed be a disgrace to us all if you do. The End. mikeb 08-14-2003, 12:58 PM I already have my 8 and I already but clear blinkers,pedals,tint,2 12 subs and other mods in it. I didn't even notice it was too lowered or anything (otherwise when people lower trucks and cars I think it looks bad.. but not this one). hey at least he doesn't have his wheels sticking out 6"-12" past the side of the car..... anyway what about this LoJack this seems like the exact kind of thing I'm looking to get on my new RX-8 when I get one how much does it cost? is it reliable? RobDickinson 09-30-2003, 04:40 AM Read through most of this thread. The negative comments went way to far. Like/love/loath/hate what he did to his civic , it still was his car, took a lot of effort, time and money to get it that way. Then some morons come and steal it and trash it for parts - lucky for you it was in US, in UK that would have been torched. Sad to see your effort gone to waste, but congratz on the RX-8 - looking forward to getting mine next month! I have not been home to the UK in 3 years, but as far as I can remember it was a hobby in N.Ireland to set cars on fire....
