I am really thinking hard about getting rid of my 99 Trans Am and getting an RX8....I am just worried I will be disappointed in the acceleration! Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Well, of course, you will lose some acceleration (assuming you don't have a V6 Trans Am), and it will be different. It will be more of a peaky engine than a stump puller like the V8s. Being lighter than the TransAm will make up for some of the loss of torque and HP, but only so much. A test drive will tell you whether you can live with it or not. But the balance and response of the RX8 will be that much better than the Trans Am. You might find that to be a nice change of pace. I had a Grand Prix GTP for a couple of years as my daily driver, and loved the torque. But it grew old, and I gave it up for a Miata. Even in city driving, the Miata was more of a fun package. And that car had more of a power deficit to the Grand Prix than the RX8 does to the Trans Am. It would be worth it to give it a try. There's more to the car than what we can put into words. ---jps |
