This has to be some kinda of false advertising. I kept hearing what a chick magnet this car was gonna be; they'd be flocking around like flies. Well, it attracts attention all right: 100% guys! In fact, a few have left their ladies impatiently at restaurant tables, or outside the mall, or whatever to come look at the car. So is this what the rest of you are seeing, or is it more attributable to me being a long-haired, overfed leaping gnome and not the fault of the car at all?

i found the opposite. it does attract guys but i have attracted quite a few women. my and my wife were at a restaurant when i looked over and 4 female waitresses were looking out the window at my car i wasnt going to say anything to them but i had my rx8 tshirt on and they knew it was mine. i spent the next 20 minutes showing them th car (and yes when i went back inside my wife was still there just glaring, not sure why) also at work i have given a few female customers test drive already. maybe you just ned a different color! :D

i went to the dentist today and all the nurses were jocking my ride. one of em asked me what it was and i said mazda rx8 and she was pretty clueless, but another said "o just like the rx-7", and i waslike close enough.

the only thing that sux is that girls think "its cute":mad:

I have to agree with 8_wannabe. So far, I'd say over 90% of the looks I've noticed are from guys. Mebbe the looks from the gals are when I'm not paying attention. :p

It's really funny that you say that because just last night, I was at a stop sign and this guy in a mustang (94 or 95) looks at my car as I'm sneering at his and his girl is winking at me. I laughed so hard I almost stalled the car, which would have been really embrassing. :D

It is true that guys are more interested - honking, thumbs up yelling head out the window, etc.

Today during my lunch break I drove to Wendys and on my way back two girls in a 4Runner were hovering beside me looking at the car and smiling.

The car is neat and car buffs no matter what gender will like it. I believe that more guys than women like or are into cars.

The other night, however, I stopped to get gas and noticed a big new BMW pulled up on the other side of the pump. I felt someone coming closer and when I looked up it was a 30ish woman. She said she was getting off the highway with me and followed me to the gas station to see the car. She had all kinds of questions and really loved the interior, but I still felt a little uncomfortable. I bet most of the guys would have loved it !

But you're right, this car is way cool with kids. My son is 14 and I'm a damn hero now with him and his friends. He called for me to pick him up at McDonald's; he was there with about 20 of his church-group friends. They came tumbling out as I pulled up and were all over that car for like half an hour. I'm sure there were 20 wishlists with 20 sets of parents by the end of the day.

Based on everybody's comments it's a "Dick Magnet" :D :D :D

I think using the RX-8 to attract potential mates would work much better for a woman than for a man. Nothing against my gender, but girls usually just don't know. They'll go for anything that's shiny, relatively new, and not a minivan. Like my cousin, who only wanted her boyfriend so she could ride around in his Eclipse with him. Girls will be like "that's pretty" but guys will be like "you have good taste." Hence, girls would be more likely to just look whereas guys will want to start a conversation. Overall, the RX-8 (or any nice car for that matter) is a much more effective aphrodisiacal tool when its power is exercised by women...

Of course, men are more likely pick-up women ("start conversation") than vice versa. However, a good-looking gal who drives a cool car will always get a ton of attention from car guys...especially on the internet. :p

I think that having a cool car might even be THE best way for a girl to meet guys...good looking girl + nice car...there's some serious power working right there. I've seen it in action...in real life, with not particularly car-oriented guys

Using a car to pick up women attracts the wrong type of women. We all know most women love money, it's more about them knowing you spent a good deal of money on the car than the car itself (in most cases). You have a nice shiny new looking car, or something that they know is expensive, and you'll attract women - typically money grubbers.

YMMV, but I've found that the number of women who are actually in to cars is much fewer than those that are just into expensive things (cars just being one of them.) They appreciate the amount you spent on it and the image it'd reflect if they rode in it with you, not the vehicle itself.

I guess what I'm saying is, unless the car is really hooked up, or a really expensive car, you're not going to pick up women with the car alone, you'll need to do some of the work yourself ;). However, if the car alone gets you the women, then she's not the "right" type of women - IMO.

i don't think it's the long haired or overfed or gnome part. i think it might be the "leapping" that is off-putting:D

Actually, I had a woman flag me down driving along El Camino Real here in Carlsbad to tell me that she loved the look of the car. She said that she was thinking of getting...

(light turned green, speed away from the crazy lady. Next light she comes back next to me again)

Thinking of getting a M3 but after seeing this she wants one instead, especially for the lower price and awesome looks.

Uhm ... let me see ... I'm just a normal bloke that really, really likes the RX-8. To be honest, I don't care what sex they are, I just expect everyone to be looking at, and listening to, and following my RX-8 when I eventually get it. :)
