Would a motorcycle fair better in a crash test than this vehicle?

So in Europe, vehicles don't have to pass crash tests BEFORE going on sale? What's the point then?

When will people learn? Soon they will sell these at Walmart!

The point, then, is that an informed consumer can make an intelligent choice (as opposed to relying on the government to do all their thinking for them).

Who wants to drive a car named 'Landwind' anyway?
That sounds like a word describing a cattle herd with flatulance problems.

Makes me feel proud to be recognized from being from the same country. A record is a record, no matter what. Scoring zero in all areas is no small feat. Vehicles rated with 5 stars in crash tests are so over rated.

I'll stick with the US system of Govt. mandated crash tests, please and thank you. I'd hate to see tin cans like those carrying families and children around. :(

Testers calculated that a driver would be unlikely to survive a head-on collision at 40mph, and in a side-on collision at 30mph the driver would suffer severe head and chest injuries due to a lack of side protection.

Those ratings are horrible... It didn't pass a SINGLE test?? Even a vehicle as small as a Kia Spectra or Mazda Miata can handle crashes of that severity. It's just inexcusably bad...

That's why I miss my college's football losing streak. We almost had a record! :(

Landwind= coffin with wheels. ^I'm with you. Pay extra for the peace of mind that your driving a much safer vehicle. I can't imagine with that kind of press that you'll see very many toolin down the road.

Well, I learned something.
I always thought in order to score a zero, the car would have to burst into flames at random intervals.
But apparently, it can just suck so badly that they have to give it a zero.

:mdrmed:

They actually recommend not buckling your seatbelt in the hopes you fly out the windshield and land on something soft. :p:

I think a zero means you're no safer in that car than if you were hurled at a brick wall without a car around you.

How did the other car fare in this test? Maybe these cars will be the pillows of the road!

This thing probably could have scored higher if they would just get rid of the piano wire seatbelts and intermittent steering.

The point, then, is that an informed consumer can make an intelligent choice (as opposed to relying on the government to do all their thinking for them).

And it's not like auto testing would cease; it would just be carried out by private groups. Or the carmakers would carry out standardized tests themselves. Kinda like ISO, API, UL (etc.) standards.

Hey, don't get too cocky now, you still have a long way to go. Anyone can design a flimsy car that simply crumples like a tin can. It takes a special team of visionaries to design a car with doors that jam shut in a mild collision, AND a gas tank that bursts into flame and roasts everyone inside at the same time.
