Under Car Photos

We took some photos under the car for you people who have no access to a lift and want to know what's under there.

Go to http://www.rotaryextreme.com/projectcarrx8.html to see all of them.

Photos are pretty big so if you don't have broad band connection, please be patient for the photos to download.

Admitedly, I know very little about cars/engines and such, but I do have a question after checking out this photo and the others in the link:

Is it normal to have all that exposed? Especially the wiring? Is the reason that it's exposed b/c maybe a cover (?) was removed?

In my previous cars, I just don't remember seeing THAT much of the wiring, etc as in these photos and I'd be worried about driving in bad weather (rain, snow).

yes, it's quite normal to have "all that" exposed under the car... in fact, it's quite rare to see any sort of major fairing under a production car, other than a mud guard or some-such...

...and i'm not sure what you're referring to, about the "wiring"...??

I was refering to two pics in the link above:
1 - Main Catalytic Concerter
2 - Transmission

After looking at the pics again, I've come to the conclusion that like stated before "it's all shiny" and I've never looked under of my cars when they were "new."

In both pictures you're seeing the wiring to the oxygen sensor. There's really no way around having this wire just hang out. But really it's no different than having a bunch of wires in the engine bay. They all get subjected to heat and water.

Hope that helps
