Just think of the looks you would get pulling up to the drive in, or driving to high school when everyone else had ratty 40's cars or t-rods. Please feel free to expound and daydream and let us know.

View Full Version : What do you think it would be like to take the 8 and timetravel to the 50's nomopistons 09-25-2005, 09:04 PM Just think of the looks you would get pulling up to the drive in, or driving to high school when everyone else had ratty 40's cars or t-rods. Nemesis8 09-25-2005, 09:12 PM Kind of like the Philadelphia Experiment Davey's RX-8 09-25-2005, 09:20 PM 1.21 jigawatts nomopistons 09-25-2005, 09:26 PM We wouldn't hide it like they did the Delorean in "Back to the Future"- we would drive, drive, drive. theCATALYST 09-25-2005, 10:24 PM I think any car in this day and age would be viewed as pretty weird looking in that time period. I think you have to be slowly conditioned to certain styles before they begin to look right. I can remember when certain mini vans aired on car&driver, they where hailed as very "Futureristic" looking, but now-a-days they are hideous. Nubo 09-26-2005, 10:17 AM "Crazy looking thing. What kinda mileage you get with that?" "Um, around 23-24 mpg on the highway". "Whoahh!!!" TownDrunk 09-26-2005, 10:30 AM Kind of like the Philadelphia Experiment Are you thinking of The Final Countdown? Where the aircraft carrier went back in time to 1941 @ Pearl Harbor? That was one of my favorite movies... I wonder what people back then would have thought about our car. The might not have liked it aesthetically. I'm sure they woul d have liked the performance though. abbid 09-26-2005, 10:31 AM Try getting warranty work done :P TownDrunk 09-26-2005, 10:33 AM Try getting warranty work done :P Or finding the right oil. Magic8 09-26-2005, 11:03 AM Most likely they will laugh their heads off when they find out the car is assembled in Hiroshima and designed by the Japanese with German engine technology! Sea Ray 09-26-2005, 11:14 AM Those old V-8's would leave us in the dust, until the road turned. :) Razp3wton 09-26-2005, 11:17 AM I think it would rock to be able to travel back to the 50's. That way, I could watch myself being born. :D wait.....that sounded sick......I retract my last statement. Imp 09-26-2005, 12:48 PM Whatever you do, you only have 250 miles to do whatever you're doing... when you run out of UNLEADED gas. Razp3wton 09-26-2005, 12:52 PM Whatever you do, you only have 250 miles to do whatever you're doing... when you run out of UNLEADED gas. The man's got a point. Feras 09-26-2005, 12:53 PM bah, remove the cat and retune the ECU and it 'may' run on leaded...maybe even be more powerful...well definitely louder. Besides they use leaded in japan. therm8 09-26-2005, 05:10 PM I'd hate to have to buy tires... Or gas for that matter... DingDing "Unleaded please" ... "Huh??!!?" Aratinga 09-26-2005, 05:40 PM You'd never have a chance to go to a gas station. The military would surround you and you and your flying saucer would be whisked away to Area 51, never to be seen or heard from again. moRotorMotor 09-26-2005, 05:45 PM Gas prices would not suck! |
