So I was only 1 block away from my work when someone decided to run a red light and hit me. It took off the whole front bumper and damaged the whole chassis area. I was injured and got rushed to the hospital. It turns out.. I was in shock, got a sprained collar bone (which showed from the x-ray), sprained wrist, minor burns, cuts, bruises.

So on the brighter side.. I'm doing okay now just a bit sore..but the car is considered totalled.. And I have around 30g's to spend on a new car, and I gotta decide soon but can't make up my mind. I'm thinking maybe something that is safe but still fun to drive.. so far I thought of maybe getting a IS300, 350Z,or 325Ci. Any suggestions?

Another 8!! You won't have the same type of fun with any other car except possibly the 3 series. IS is.. well a Lexus and plus you'll have an older model in a few months, 350Z is an understeering pig, and 3 series is still not a M3.. :)

hope you're ok. i would go one more level and get the bmw 330 if you can afford it.

hi ass holes. yes i'm okay.. as of right now, i'm just a lil sore. just happy to be alive and i'm happy my face didn't get messed up. lol.. but yeah that must've been the scariest thing that ever happened to me. and now i have to drive through that same intersection every day to get to work. and my poor rx-8 is gone.

oh and to those who suggested getting a new rx-8.. my parents don't want me getting another rx-8 they say its too "high maintanence" and i should get something that is a lil easier on the repairs in the future.

Try to convince them that it's a really safe can.. and plus it's not "high maintainence" no more so than any other cars... oh, Mx5 would be a really fun car... it's safe because it's smaller so it's a smaller target for the landboats to hit! :D

hehe.. yeah. but cars THAT small will just frighten me. lol.. but that is kind of true that the rx8 is a safe car. It has really good crash test ratings also to prove it. I guess i will try to convince my parents.. because i really loved my car. =[

I'd go either G35 or 325Ci, those were my last two choices before deciding on the 8. To be perfectly honest, the 325 was my first choice...until I drove the 8 again. Bam, SOLD.

If you do get the Ci, make sure to get a 5 speed with xenons and sport package :D

Yeah, you should try that.. considering that you're still alive and well with only sores, it's considered a safe car. Also, you can more easily avoid accident which is another plus!

Right now, I'm just waiting for someone to total my car so I can get a new one, again someone else's fault of course. I want a 06 and not have all the stuff I had when I got the car, that way I can simply go with some body kit..... :D

oh and i should add that while i was laying on the curb about to pass out from being in shock, i heard from a witness that some guys who were walkin on the street beside my car.. tried to steal my belongings while i was hurt.

If you're looking at alternatives....

Audi A3 or VW GLI (the new Jetta V chassis, not the old one)

Same engine in both. The GLI is a sedan, the A3 is a 4-door hatch. Excellent fuel economy. Stock ones have dyno'd well above advertised power levels, and with an APR reprogramming, you can over 250HP easily. The Audi comes with 4 years routine maintenance included, so that may help with the parental issues. Check the forums at vwvortex.com for more info.

haha what's funny is that the volks have not a scratch on them. but everything surrounding them (fenders,etc) were totally damaged! but hopefully their insurance will cover for the mods as well, since the volks are going along with the rx8 :(

Wow...sorry you lost your 8 but like everyone is saying, glad you are OK. I too would get another 8. From my ownership experience I have not seen that much different from any other car. Sure...it drinks a little oil and requires some special "cold engine" procedures, but other than that it's pretty normal.

I might be crazy...but I actually "feel" as if the engine is more reliable since it has so much less moving parts.
