There is $hit load of them coming to Freeman's in the next 48 hours. Just hang in there. I talked with Mazda Management yesterday and today in California and they assured me that pre-orders everywhere in the Gulf Region are going to be flowing to dealers. I would not be surprised to see your tomorrow or Thursday at the worst assuming it is a pre-order. P/M me if I can help. BTW, Mine is Titanium but I saw the Red. I know have Red envy. It looks great. New to the Forum AND to the Rotary engine. North Richland Hills Velocity Red, Red / Black interior, 6MT GT, NAV, AP Thanks.;) MesquiteRX8 02-09-2004, 03:03 PM Got my new baby on Sat. 2/7/2004 - It is the classic Titanium Gray with leather Chaps, (since leather, it is the GT package...), 6spd - no spoiler - no NAV (can't see paying 2K for such a toy!) 2 miles on the ODO (60 after the Sunday Drive....!) I got it at Town North Mazda - Richardson. I had looked at Hancock in Mesquite & and Prestige down in Duncanville. Why didn't I buy from the other 2? Prestige: The DMN Sat ad said - $3500 off MSRP - with no disclaimer - First the sales idiot claimed that he knew nothing about the ad... then I got shuffled between 2 sales guys and then to the sales manager all within 5 min. of getting on the lot - turns out that it was only good for 1 car (major miles) - classic bait and switch ploy - well I got outta there fast! Hancock: They did take me on a test drive - but they just yanked one randomly out of inventory. They didn't have a demo car - The thing that really got me was that the sales guy did a redline rev on an engine that had 3 miles on it - wanted to hear it beep! I figured out that I didn't want to buy from them.... Why Town North? - They have been around a long time...- they only sell Mazdas. They have certified their Techs on the RX8 - I really liked my sales guy - Gary. What did I pay? About a $1000 over invoice and about a $1000 under MSRP. They also were willing to swap out around a couple of the add-ons.... I know that if I had played the Internet email game that I could I shaved a few more bucks - But I felt that it was Win/Win - The finance guy did try to sell me the xtended warrenty stuff and the id stuff - I said no to both.... I already had my loan and they couldn't touch the rate - I had no trade-ins - I knew what cash I wanted to put down - so all that kept the games at a min. Overall a very good and easy buying experence - Of course I had done the homework KBB/Edmonds, had the money worked out - so sale was done in less than an hour - didn't even have to talk to the Sales Manager! I was all set to do the internet bidding game - but once I saw the car I wanted, in the trim I wanted, with 2 miles (a true VIRGIN) - it was love at first sight! So if you see a mid 40ish male WASP doing the mid-life crisis thing in the Mesquite or Telcom corridor area, that's me! 8Driver 02-11-2004, 09:16 PM Got my titanium gray last September from Hancock Mazda. Every day, it drives better than the last. Marcus Desaul 02-13-2004, 09:28 AM MesquiteRX8, I also bought my 8 from Town North. I live over in Keller and Hurst is right around the corner, but I felt they were playing too many games. I went out to Town North and Gary was also my sales guy. Nice guy and yes...I got practically the same deal you did. About $1000 over invoice. Same color, same package but I got the spoiler as well. I was happy with Town North and Gary and would recommend to anyone in the area. I drove 40 miles to get there and buy when I had a dealership about 3 miles away. That should say something. Xlorn 02-14-2004, 02:29 PM I purchased my 8 from Hancock Mazda in January. I asked to drive the newest red one on the lot (3 miles on odomoter). The salesperson, Arthur, was great. He let me pull the car out of the lot after reminding me to let the car warm up first which impressed me. I told him upfront I was already knowledgable about the car and wasn't interested in playing games. The whole process went very smoothly. I dropped him off at the dealership, he gave me $10 for gas and I took it for a drive alone. When I got back I had him place a sold sticker on the car and had the car a couple days later. I absolutely love the car. Ajax 02-16-2004, 03:49 PM I get mine next month. I was planning on purchasing from town north as it's right next to my office, but eldorado in mckinney gave me a better price on the car. If you go to eldorado, do NOT deal with their dealers on site. They will not deal with you, or at least they would not deal with me. Go through the fleet/internet dealers. They gave me the actual invoice prices on everything and let me pick all my options. I get to put down money on the car on friday so they'll order it for me and hopefully it'll be here by march 5th, when I plan to pick it up. Ajax RogueRX8 02-22-2004, 01:18 PM How many of the DFW RX8 owners are going to join texasrx club? I have been thinking about it but I dont see that much happens with these guys. Maybe if I actually become a member I might learn more but @ $30 for a wish and a prayer seems steep. TheGreatRenesis 02-23-2004, 02:03 AM I have already talked to Town North Mazda (talked to Bob) and believe that is where I will go to make the purchase, as they were quite easy to talk to without much hassle. To you guys that paid $1k under MSRP there, did you set it up on a lease or pay it all up front? I'm considering paying it all up front because I believe this will be a long term car for me. Thanks, Max Ajax 02-23-2004, 02:06 PM I'll say again that you should not buy from eldorado in mckinney no matter what. Don't go there, don't bother. Friday they arranged to get my car from another dealer in Arlington. I was told the car was new and had everything I wanted for 400 over invoice after 500 dollar recent graduate discount. Elorado told me friday night that they would get me the car and have it there saturday so I could purchase it. Saturday morning, they call me up and say they have the car in, but hey, it has 600 miles on it already. Lemme put it this way. 600 miles is NOT a new car. That's a demo car. 600 miles is even worse when the car happens to have a 600 mile break in period. Basically I turned down the deal and requested my 250 dollar deposit back to which I was told they'd be keeping my deposit. I told them to shove it and refund the deposit or they could deal with american express next month. Then they went on and on about how they could lose their jobs from getting a 30k car from another dealer and how I gave them my word that I'd buy the car. Had the car been a NEW car, I would've purchased it. It just got weirder from there. The dealer then told me I wouldn't find another one like it anytime soon and I told him I already had (which I had) and I'd be getting a car with no miles on it during the second week in march. I found one in Hiley Mazda's inventory that hadn't even been delivered yet that I will be purchasing. So I got off the phone w/eldorado and went out to hurst, only to find out the dealers at hiley used to work at eldorado! Why did they leave? Shadey business practices. 5 dealers left eldorado and 4 of those 5 were working at hiley. On my way to hurst, I got 2 calls from eldorado asking me to come back in and purchase a car from them as they've just found out that they have exactly what I want coming in off the truck in 2 days. Yea, if that's the case, why didnt they try to sell me that car to begin with? Your guess is probably the same as mine. Stay away from Eldorado mazda in McKinney. Town north did try to get me a car with miles on it as well, but at least they told me up front rather than letting me think I was getting a new car and then telling me when they were ready to sell. Thanks, Max I already had my finance worked out with a credit union rate they couldn't match. I put up a healthy downpayment - keeps the payments low. My advice: Do your homework, know what you are going to pay and have your money worked out. That will make the deal simple... Leases can be complex and they will try to get you everytime... I also plan on keeping the car for many years... bluesunlion 02-25-2004, 06:01 PM Originally posted by Ajax I'll say again that you should not buy from eldorado in mckinney no matter what. Don't go there, don't bother. Ajax Ajax, Do you mind mentioning the people that you dealt with? I'm in the market for an RX8 between now and November, and was considering Eldorado because of their close proximity. Regardless, thanks for the info. Rachel Ajax 02-27-2004, 02:53 PM Absolutely. At El Dorado, I dealt with keith somethingorother when they tried to push the demo car for over MSRP. He was let go this week. Then I dealt with Tracy Moore who did not tell me in advance that he was pulling a car with 600 miles on it. Since then, his partner has called me, and I cant remember her name. At Town North, I dealt initially w/Greg Scott. I don't know if I'd purchase from there either. What I would do is go out to Mesquite or Hurst and check their dealers. I'm purchasing from Hiley Mazda in Hurst and the dealer I'm dealing with is Ben Schaulk(spelling?). I'm paying 500 over invoice minus 500 for the college graduate discount so invoice. If you have the extra time, go out to Prestige Mazda. Look up their address on the web. They're off 820 somewhere, but I've heard they're really giving good deals. Ajax rbr0789 03-02-2004, 01:07 PM I bought my RX-8 in 11/03 from Hancock Mazda. It was a good buying experience. I first just called the dealership to ask a few questions about the rx-8 and Gene, the salesman I was working with said he was new and was unable to directly answers some of my questions but would try and find out. About ten minutes later the sales manager called back and said they were doing follow-ups on Gene since he was new. Sales manager wanted to know if Gene was pleasant and was able to answer my questions. I was impressed that they were doing follow-ups on new employees. I work in customer service for a company and seeing management take the initiative with their new employees tells me they are trying hard to be customer oriented. The sales manager answered my questions and I went the a couple of days later and found a beautiful Velocity Red MC with a GT package w/o nav, and had a spoiler. I wasn't sure I wanted the spoiler but I fell in love with that metal flake red I just had to buy. The car has been great and extremely fun to drive. Are there any RX-8 auto clubs in the Dallas/Ft. area that do meet and greets? TheGreatRenesis 03-02-2004, 07:21 PM http://texasrxs.com/ Don't believe there are any DFW specific clubs... DAVETHOMSON 03-05-2004, 07:22 PM I've just joined the forum and live in Fossil Creek, Fort Worth. donlyon 03-06-2004, 03:41 AM Titanium 6spd GT, spoiler I got mine from Town North back in August. No hassles at all. Dealt with Gary. I would have no problem recommending them. Anyone have a preference on service? I've been taking mine to Elderado since that's closer for me, but Town North wouldn't be too far out of the way. Mustang733 03-09-2004, 04:55 PM I got mine last week at Town North. I spent the previous two weeks lurking around the forum for insights from current owners. The car is great!! Anytime I have a question I check the forum for advice. It got me through the thrills of Homelink programming . . . Ajax 03-15-2004, 04:44 PM I will never service mine at Eldorado. They know me there and probably hate me for not buying from them, but then again, I could never trust them again anyway considering the number of times they've lied to me. I'll probably have mine serviced at town north or hiley in hurst where I bought it. RX8-TX 03-16-2004, 10:29 AM Originally posted by Ajax I will never service mine at Eldorado. They know me there and probably hate me for not buying from them, but then again, I could never trust them again anyway considering the number of times they've lied to me. I'll probably have mine serviced at town north or hiley in hurst where I bought it. Another negative for El Dorado.... Ajax 03-20-2004, 09:34 PM did you catch my earlier notes about eldorado and the crap they tried to pull on me? I have lots of reasons to dislike them. On a good note, I did get my car on thursday from Hiley mazda in hurst and it was a great experience. I paid invoice for the car and got it financed and everything in a few hours up there. I'm having a blast driving it too. It was well worth the wait to get a car with 6 miles on it rather than 600. lisajc 03-23-2004, 05:50 PM I purchased my RX8 from Hiley Mazda in Hurst. I am still waiting to get my 2nd set of keys, owners manual, and warranty info. They had to get my car from Austin, and forgot the manual and keys. It's been 10 days, and they keep telling me that the items are being fed exd. Slow mail. On a lighter note, I went to Hillard Mazda in Ft. Worth to test drive an RX8 and wouldn't you know they couldn't start the car!!! The salesman didn't know about the flooding problem, and they didn't know alot about the car. That was enough to convince me to go elsewhere. x3dfxWolfeman 03-29-2004, 07:31 PM I'm a new RX-8 owner from CarMax of all places. Got a great deal on an almost fully loaded RX-8 Manual for around 25k - only things NOT on it are leather seats, navigation system and the sunroof. tkemory 04-08-2004, 02:18 PM Plano Texas, bought my RX8 from Town North back last July early birthday present to myself. Red GT 6-speed with everything except the Nav system. Tall Corn 04-18-2004, 08:44 PM so when you see us, go ahead and honk........ The only thing we had added from the base package was a rear spoiler - that's really all we wanted..... You know - it's funny, but true: I read in one of the previous threads when a new owner asked what should they do after getting their car and one of the things they were told was to get used to people staring at them. It's really cool, pulling up to or through an intersection, seeing people point at this car and smile. I like that a lot. We got it from Hiley in Arlington a little over a month ago and I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!! Man, it is THE first car I've ever owned that I describe, when asked, by just grinning and saying one word: "FUN!" :D I let anyone who wants to drive it - it's just to much fun not to share. Man, what a blessing - never thought I would ever have anything like this in my life! Tall................... allstate 04-19-2004, 10:05 AM Tall Corn, Congrats on the new car! I'll be joining you down in Burleson sometime the first week of May. My wife and I are building our first house down there and it is just about finished (currently we live in Arlington). I drive a Base 6MT Titanium. I purchased from El Dorado back last August as they were the only one who had the exact car I was looking for. It was a preorder that was never picked up. Lucky me! Otherwise I would have had to wait until Oct/Nov. Despite all the bad reports from El Dorado mentioned above, my experience with them was just fine. I service my car at Hiley in Hurst however as they are closer. Tall Corn 04-19-2004, 11:01 AM Very cool, Allstate! There's a guy that goes to my church (TCAB on Wilshire - next to Braham's) that just leased a Winner Blue model with all the dealer demo options except for the NAV and we've also seen a red one tooling around. I'll be watching for you. The guy at church and myself have decided to work together in finding out stuff and maintaining our new thrills. I've asked all the police that visit our church to be lenient with my wife if they see that car scooting just a hair too fast - she's still learning how to handle that spontaneous acceleration response. You at most of the town's posted speed limits before you can shift out of 2nd...... If you're out and you see my wife driving it, just tell her you're a member of this forum, and she'll know what you're talking about. We'll be watching and giving you the "oh, yeah...." nod as we pass each other! Tall Corn 04-26-2004, 11:59 AM getting together to discuss mods, ideas, or anything in general, it's just I've seen picutres in this forum of rallies where areas of the exterior have marks from kissed orange cones....... >oooo!
