My RX8's rear view mirror vibrates when driving the car. This makes the rear view difficult to see. I have the automatic dimming rear view mirror. Anyone with the similar problem? Is there a fix?

Thanks

The mirror has a ball joint in the mounting post that makes it adjustable so move it around until it no longer vibrates. If that doesn't do the trick, it's dealer time.

I have the same mirror but with no problem. However, it will vibrate depending on road conditions. Are you driving on bumpy roads at the time? and are you playing your radio loud? Sound will make it do the same thing as well.

mine does the same thing when it has been sitting out in 90 degree sun all day, it will vibrate a lot, but once it cools off it doesn't move much at all.

Brice makes a good point as well. I had a probe at one time with 2 jl audio 12's in the trunk. always liked a good warm day cause when you turned it up the mirror would damn near fall off. :D

I have the same mirror, and mine often rattles. It's on my "list" for next time car goes to dealer.

Mine vibrates too, making the image blurry. You can see where cars are easy enough, but it's still annoying. I aim to have this looked at when I go in for the recent recalls.

Vibrating rearview mirror was a common "feature" of the original Miata. It would happen right around 65-70 mph, which made it particularly annoying. A common fix was to attach some small weights to the back of the mirror. This could be small fishing sinkers, or more cleanly you could use the little self-adhesive weights they sell to balance ceiling fans. By adding weight in the right spots you can shift the resonance frequency of the mirror assembly so that it doesn't vibrate at your normal driving speeds.
