View Full Version : ~ You Ever Get That 'Not-So-Fresh Feeling'? ~
Meowloud 09-16-2005, 10:26 AM I'm in sweaty hell. If hell were sweaty, then it would be my house. And not from adult pleasures... OH NO! I'm not that lucky. Nope, instead my new heat pump quit working 2 days ago. I have tons of painting to finish and was really digging the 70 degrees inside the house. BAH! :o
Speed-ER doc 09-16-2005, 10:27 AM Sweaty is good. :)
Aoshi Shinomori 09-16-2005, 10:33 AM Hahaha, good one Jen. Get a lot of fans and try that. I saw this awesome fan at a store once. You would load ice cubes into the back section of the fan and it would act as a chiller. Pretty sweet idea. Otherwise, good luck with the painting.

Hehe, that's my old work coordinates (4 mi away). Right at this moment... I'm at 35.0040, 85.1602. Thunderstorms adds a nice, intolerable humidity too :D
Search on Gold Bond ;)
The medicated powder? I didn't say you could smell me from the next state (at least not yet!)

gold bond does a few things
1) it makes you smell... minty?
2) it keeps you dry (drier)
3) it keeps you cool (when it absorbs water it cools you).
comes in three varieties! yellow, green, and blue. blue's supposed to be for feet only so it's strong. i have blue gold bond... but i use it for my feet only! yellow is mild, green is a bit stronger. but i've never actually used gold bond for anythign but my feet so i dunno about the true effectiveness of it.

Maybe I'll get some of that bond stuff and try it. Both kinds.
Yep, 3:10 here and I'm ripe. Everything caulked and sanded. About to start wall painting in the dining room. I'm going to try using this wool decorative painting tool called The Woolie. Reminds me of that puppet Lambchop... except it's dead and has a handle sticking outta its back :p
guy321 09-16-2005, 07:57 PM Sorry to hear about the heat pump!! THAT thing was new too!!! Atleast you get some mountain breezes tho right???
I know _ALL_ about the being sweaty!!! THere was no AC where I was at last weekend too! :D
Outlaws eXtreme 09-16-2005, 08:06 PM Stinky foo foo... ack. Not so fresh smell afterall
Aratinga 09-16-2005, 08:11 PM Oooh, I love the Woolie! I did my living room wall with it... it's the one with the two rollers and the split paint tray that applies two colors at once, right? It turned out really great and was lots of fun, because you're supposed to do it all crazy-like and not just in boring up/down/left/right strokes.
Then, if the texture needs a little more tweaking, just roll your nekkid body across the wall before the paint's dry. (Make sure to remove stray hairs from wet paint.) :D
RXMAN16 09-16-2005, 08:11 PM you said caulk

Heh, you were at MY house last weekend... of course we were sweaty from no AC :p
Aratinga, I'm having a problem with the paint that was previously on the wall. The box read not to use on a wall with flat paint because it will soak in like a sponge and not blend well. Did you use on flat paint or was your living room a different sheen?

My wall had some ancient wallpaper on it that I had to rent a steamer to remove. The gypsum board surface underneath got softened by the steamer and as I used a scraper to remove the soggy wallpaper, it ended up getting gouged in places, and lots of the old wallpaper paste stayed. So I ended up sanding down the whole wall afterwards and then putting on one coat of just plain white flat latex and letting that dry. So the wall soaked up the white paint, and I used the wooly with two colored flat latex paints over that with no problems at all. It turned out exactly as it should have.
Meowloud 09-17-2005, 12:45 AM So I ended up sanding down the whole wall afterwards and then putting on one coat of just plain white flat latex and letting that dry. GAH! Sounds like you had one problem after another. I can RELATE :D
The 2nd level of paint had lead (in the history of 53 years, this house was only updated and painted once other than original!!) so I've had to endure the 'ole respirator, PPE garb. Thank gosh I've only had 2 rooms that I've had to sand down into that.
I REALLY couldn't get my colors to mesh. The patterns were so exact, it looked ridiculous. It looked like squids were mating on my wall (which is pretty cool... but not while you're eating in the dining room) :D
