turn rotors when changing pads?

Guys,
Is it mandatory to turn the rotors when you change the brake pads? I am going from stock pads to carbotech panthers up front for a track event and of course they are a much differant compound. Goin to bobcats in the back. Do I have to turn the rotors when i swap the pads. Rotors are in good shape. I hear if I dont then I will have the dreaded brake shimmy shutter symptom! I hate that.

Ok Guys...
I see this come up all the time and i see the same misleading advice given every single time!
Pulsating Pedal is a function of a brake disc that has a variable thickness. When switching from street pads to track pads you don't need to turn your rotors. HOWEVER!!!! when you use your factory rotors on the track you need to make sure that you take EXTREME care of your wheels, brakes, and rotors. treat them as a singular package. all of those componants function together and rely on one another to function properly.
the reason people misassociate a pulsating brake pedal with not turning the rotors when installing track pads is pretty simple.
when you install track pads there are two things that come along with them. aggressive use and aggressive wear.
if you don't want your brakes to pulsate after using them aggressively then here are some preventative steps that will help to minimize the chances of that occuring.
1) PROPERLY TORQUE YOUR WHEELS!!! - always use the mid-point of the factory reccomended specs. Check the TSB's for this as Mazda has updated those specs.
2) LUBE YOUR BRAKES!!! - lube every contact point and caliper slide pin with high temperature silicone caliper lube. make sure you thoroughly clean the brakes and allow them to dry before applying the caliper lube.
3) FLUSH YOUR BRAKE FLUID!!! - fresh, clean fluid is ESSENTIAL for a properly functioning high performance brake system. for a street car on the track i suggest using DOT4.
4) COOL YOUR JETS! err, BRAKES!!! - allow time for your brakes to cool down. if you're out running hot laps budget enough time to cool down your brakes at a reasonable pace.
follow those rules and you should stay clear of a pulsating brake problem when you switch between track and street pads.

Question: I have my MazdaSpeed pad for a while and thinking of changing disc rotor and brake together.
Do I change it at the same time? or should I wait the brake pad to break in before changing the rotors?
