Alright. I have this wheel...

I want to get rid of the background entirely. Make it white so that I can paste the wheel onto a background of my choice. Basically, get rid of where the red dots and lines are in this picture...

Now, I have been using photoshop tutorials on the internet and kinda have the hang of it, but mine end up look really rough, giant pieces of the wheel missing, and I can't figure out how to fix that. My go at it looked like this...

Could someone please teach me how to fish here. Thanks

What up! I work in graphics...you need to use the magnetic lasso tool (left side of the tool window) in photoshop and section out the parts in between the wheels, then paint bucket them with white, once done doing that, use the lasso tool again to go around the whole wheel, then paintpucket that area..lemme know if you have any more questions ;)

Yeah, the magic wand is kinda goofy, I usually use it as a starting point only, and then only if there's a pretty good bit of contrast between your object and the background. In this case, the wheel and background are all shades of gray so it gets confused.

you're using the wrong tool. search for tutorials on the pen tool ;)

i used the magic wand on the spokes. you can go through and clean those up if you want. i'm not getting paid for it, so i didn't feel like putting that much effort into it :p

THanks Glyphon. I'm going to see if I can duplicate your results!
