Lots of Philly, Florida, and DC folks on this forum. Anyone else following MLB?

The Astros own the Phillies, but who is going to step up amongst the rest of you?

:p

I follow MLB closely, but my team (the Giants) is wallowing with the rest of the bottom feeders in the National League West. Could we see a below .500 team in the World Series this year? Stay tuned.

P.S. Despite the rumors, Barry Bonds still wasn't activated from the D.L. today. (P.S. #2--does D.L. stand for "disabled list" or "drug list?" :p )

go Braves! (until you choke yet again in the playoffs).

dude the giants have been clobbering people as of late...they are on a 6 games winning streak! Sadly, my pathetic dodgers have faded into the sunset. The giants may actually have a chance to catch the padres as sad as that sounds...

NL wild card should be a thriller to the end. Based upon history I will have to say the Fish get hot right at the end, Phillies melt down like usual, the Nats ummm.... go back to monteal and forget that they were winning... all leading to a battle between the Astros and Marlins for the final spot. Oh yeah and the Mets become dysfunctional as usual and underachieve leading to another big name off season acquisition that leads them nowhere.

I would have to say based upon the remaining games Houston's got an edge as the marlins have to play the Braves, Nats and Phils all in the last month while the astros can beat up on the Cubs and Reds.

and the D.L stands for Detox list!!!

I am just hoping that the Angels fight off Oakland or the yankees to make the post season.

Astros and Marlins have a huge series next week. I think the wild card was a great thing for baseball....otherwise the last month wouldn't be nearly as exciting.

(Woot) x 10^10 power. Good job against the Cards. I was worried about this miniseries that they may get raped, but hey, I was wrong about KC the other night. Go 'stros! :D

October is just around the corner. I hope we sneak in again.

Yeah, they make you buy them early.....but that's why we got season tickets, so we would have the opportunity to do so. They get $125 for my $12 seats.

The best part is that our NLDS and NLCS home games are all on weekends, if we get that far. I'm only scheduled to work one day out of the 8 potential playoff games.

Big game today.....Roy Oswalt vs. Greg Maddux.

Are the Nationals just giving up? I haven't kept up with their pitchers, but it appears they are starting a reliever for the last game of the season today against a pretty solid starter for the Phillies.

I noticed that the NL East will have no team under .500. Is this a first for any division?

Good question, and I don't know the answer off-hand. But it appears that the laws of physics apply to the NL standings--for every "action" (NL East), there's an equal and opposite reaction (NL West). San Diego is the only team in the West guaranteed to have at least a .500 record. What a strange year.

Maybe it's just me, but am I the only one who hates the Braves? Either way, I hope the Astros kick their butts.

Yeah, I've never liked the Braves. They have always rubbed me the wrong way.

I hope Smoltz is still sore. It's going to be Pettitte vs. Smoltz in Game 1 on Wednesday.

I don't "hate" the Braves, just their fans and their incessant chanting. I only really hate them when they are on ESPN and some other game could be shown instead. They do have their own national channel to themselves for crying out loud. Of course, that's my ESPN complaint not a Braves one. Oh, sweet Lord, as I write this, the Kansas City Chief fans are doing the same damn chant on TV.

It sucks how TBS shows nothing but Braves games, when they could be showing, uh, er, um...informercials? Blame Ted Turner that skank.

Anyway, go 'stros! Atlanta is dead in the water.

I have to laugh - the Padres would be 18 games out in the Central Division, but yet we won our division. Laughable, I know, but most of us feel like any year that we beat the Dodgers is a stellar year.

So if it's a celestial World Series (Astros and Angels), are any of you Texans gonna come out to Anaheim--- I mean, Los Angeles -- for the games?
