That reminds me the new STI Spec C (japanese only) car did a 7:59 seconds on the Nurb.

There's a write up about the new Z06 in the new Road & Track. I'm surprised the 0-60 time wasn't a bit lower given it's 6.2lb per HP claim, but maybe the test conditions were crappy (I'd have to go back and see the temp, alt, etc). Either way it's a seriously fast car. I've driven a C6 with the Z51 package at one of those GM Autoshow In Motion events. That car was pretty awesome! I can imagine that the Z06 just punctuates the good points of the "regular" C6.

They are going to sell it IIRC, but it is going to significantly more expensive than the regular c6 z06

Still a deal and a half. That's less than a Ferrari 430 and I don't see that anywhere on the list.

The fact is, you'll see the streets littered with these things come end of 06. Its cool that its as fast as stink but its worthless when theres dozens of em everywhere you go.

I can't imagine them putting out lots and lots of the "Blue Devil" editions. Sure there will be lots of Z06s, but I'd imagine Blue Devils would be limited.

From Autoweek...
Or maybe the long-rumored, supercharged Blue Devil exotic (July 4) sources say they have seen pounding around the Nordschleife. Hill says those sources have inhaled too many exhaust fumes. “If you have an idea that we’re coming in a few years with something a lot better than this, you’re going to spend a lot of time on the sidewalk watching Corvettes go by.”

I disagree. Supply and demand. The production numbers will probably be kept rather low and the average joe can't afford a 70k car, nevermind one that's likely to be priced north of 100k.

I saw three this weekend. Of course I was at the ALMS event at Mosport. All three had michigan plates and all three looked damn good to me. I would kill to be an owner of one of the dozens everywhere I go.

They're only making 10,000 Z06's, which might sound like a lot.... but it's not.

There will probably only be a few hundred blue devil's.

EDIT: Fewer than 10,000 Z06's will be produced, with a good chunk of those going to Europe according to Motor Trend.

they aren't making a blue devil.

That is a stock Z06, there is a 2 page story in the Sept motortrend about the Z06 being the 2nd fastest production car around the ring.

i agree i read an article that had this same photo in it (forget the link) and it was talking about the fact that this is a regular NA z06 making 515hp not some one off/low production 'blue devil' model.

I can't believe how many people didn't know what it was. I think some people should put down their super ricer tuner street magazines for a few minutes.

maby its to much time around rotor heads....

i find that the last thing rotary owners talk about is push rods...lol :p

but, indeed kinda suprising....part of the think i love about the factory high-performance corvette, very understated...with a few subtle outside changes...so at a glance, to most people...it appears to be a 'normal 400hp' car....then it lets out a wail from that 515hp 427 and its gone

So who wants to donate 70k to the Aoshi wants a corvette fund. It's for a good cause!

It's impressive that GM turned this car out for under $80K. But what kills me is that the Magazines want to hype it so badly by bragging that it can outrun other cars twice the price.

Well, people don't buy the cars that the Z06 can outrun for the performance alone.

They buy them for prestige. In the end it's still a Corvette. Not a Pagani Zonda, Not an Enzo, Not a Carrera GT, and Not a Ford GT.

It's comparable to how they hyped up the SRT-4 and compared it to cars twice the price.

Yes it is faster than an RX-8, but it's a Neon.

If you are looking for a BARGAIN, then yeah this Z06 is the car for you. If you are looking for prestige then stay away.

StealthFox

yeah even if the blue devil/Super Sport will become the "king of the ring" and edge out the Porsche Carrera GT, its still a corvette. and more than that, its still american made.

:D not to say i wouldn't take one for free :P

The price is closer to $65,000 (plus destination) for a base Z06, which means that it's priced more in line with a Cayman S with a few options than it is with the more expensive 911, Viper, or NSX. Good marketing strategy by GM in this case, as long as they're not producing them at a loss, anyway.

I don't think you will find one for 65k. Dealers will order in the optioned models. Plus, initially some retards with more money than brains will pay a premium for them. I'm sure the intial dealer alotments will go for north of 80k.

Very true. I remember a few years back when the Evo first came out dealers were trying to get north of $40,000 for them for a while. I guess some people just have to have it first.
