I doubt he will if they look close to the Xenon colour, but if theyre a much different blue... maybe

But because theyre in the headlight cluster with Xenons I dont think it will be noticed by other then RX-8 Drivers

^Hopefully that won't be an issue. They DO blend very nicely with the HID's when both are on. And, I didn't think these lights were regulated? They aren't turn signals or marker lights. Hmm...

And here's the link to the bulbs I'm using: http://www.cardomain.com/item/PIA19262?ref=frog The guy who reccomended these to me (flyboyindy) says he's had them for about 6 months now, and hasn't had a problem yet.

Ticket waiting to happen. If you got them from autolumination.com, they will burn out.

It's going to be a bigger problem very soon then. I'm the third person so far in the Indy 8 club to have them, with more on the way. :D

It's not the location, it's because it's blue. You're not allowed to have any blue lights on your car, anywhere (well, anyplace where it would be visible from outside the car. So blue footwell & trunk lights would be okay)

^^^
What he said - so if they are really blue (and they sure seem blue on these pics), then that's why you will get a ticket.
Of course you may get lucky and don't get nailed, but that's the law nevertheless.

you guys are from California :D...the reality is in Indiana the cops don't care about this piddly ****...Flyboyindy has been running the SAME blue lights for almost a year now and not a problem. Indiana like Minnesota (here) is not full of Riced out Disco ***** driving around like the warmer climated states so the cops up here don't even bother to know the laws on lights/muffler db/drop height/etc. etc....but they sure do know how to use their radar/laser guns (sheesh!)

i dont think its that the LED fails so much (cause they will outlast normal bulbs) its the fact that the car was set up to use regular bulbs in that location, and the LEDs dont get the proper power or something. so they fail early...like talking a regular light bulb and feeding it a little to much voltage...sure it works, but it shortens the life.

^ Good to know. I was always under the impression that LEDs can take any voltage because they will only take what they need. I guess I presumed wrong.

probably I'm going to be adding load equalizers to the LED bulb circuits...they simulate a standard incandescent bulb on the circuit and so proper voltage/wattage is drawn so as the LED bulbs don't get overun by the high wattage

Care to make a DIY when you do that?

I already installed load equalizers for the front and rear LED blinkers...it was so easy I didn't even post the DIY

actually I'd like to do it over and solder them in instead of quick connects

That's how I did my load equalizers too (pretty much the same location, using velcro). I had second thoughts afterwards, because these things get pretty hot in about 30-40 seconds. Due to the velcro, I don't have metal contact that would allow them to use the sheetmetal as heatsink. Luckily, I only had to put on load equalizers for the turn signals to get rid of the stupid rapid blinking. So far so good.

How did you fasten the load equalizers? Not with screws I presume...

I used 3m heavy duty double sided...

I ran the load equalizers for about 2 minutes once when I put the emergency flashers on...it got so hot I thought it would melt the trunk liner...but nope

if I had time to do it again I'd drill 4 small holes, lacquer them (prevent rusting) then run a small cable/wire through them and so 2 strands of wire/cable would strap the heat sink to the sheetmetal....I read on another forum the guy remove the heatsink and put it into a vegetable oil filled metal tube....yeah that is a bit nutz :D

better than a metal heatsink at distributing heat...he probably based it off these (popular in extreme cooling of PC):

click here for the oil computer
