Yup yup! finally! thanks to DPE, my konis are going in tomm!
getting them installed at EF1 motorsports in signal hill and can't wait!

i decided on going 50% stiff in the back and 75% in the front after heeding to clyde's advice. tomm i will post impressions and if it really did lower my car any lower then the RB springs. it should get lower after it settles in hopefully.

well i can't wait! 7 hours! whooo!

 

I dunno who this Tomm is but I don't think putting your konis in him is a very safe thing to do...

Yeah it didn't click what the hell "tomm" was for awhile. I thought you had named your car Tomm. But tomm = TOMORROW. Not sure how you get tomm out of tomorrow, but oh well. Hope you like them.

 

Probably too late, but you might want to take it a little easy on the rear damper setting. They go about 2 full turns, and I'd say you probably want them at a half turn up from soft or 3/4 at the most. A full turn won't crack vertebre or anything, and at least you have smooth roads where you are (I think?), but certainly don't go any higher for starters. Unless you're autocrossing all the time and just want the rear end to be as stiff as possible for better low-speed rotation.

And running 75% in the front will be quite stiff, but you can play with that at your leisure so no biggie there.

The Konis are valved to be able to handle a VERY stiff spring in the RX-8 application, so for most regular 'sport' springs available you'll only need to be using the lower half of the adjustment range (Assuming a normal daily driven car that may see the occasional autox or road course. Hardcore competition folks probably have other ideas).

i installed it today, and he did a full turn on the rears, and since its a pain taking them out again, i dont think ill be changing them again.
the installer installed the front to the softest setting and said after the shocks settle he will change the settings up when he aligns it.

the shocks make the ride MUCH stiffer and alot smoother in turns! sway is now completely gone! wahooo! its stiff and bumpy but tolerable and when i stiffen up the front hopefully it will perform alot better.

ok so for the question that has plagued me before the install... will the shocks lower my car even further? yes it did in the rear, not really in the front. right before the install i could stick 3 fingers in the gap between the wheel and rear fender, after the install i could fit only a finger and a half. im guessing that the front will lower itself when i stiffen up the shocks.

Are you using stock springs?
Olddragger
