Welcome to the cult. You'll have fun.

Why did you trade in the S2K?

get your forcefield up now that you have identified yourself as a member of the fairer sex

LOL...... Thanks all, and yeah shields are up. ;)

I traded in my S because 1-It was a Lease and 2-I was bored with it (i like to change cars every 3 yrs or so), 3-I've always wanted an 8. I previously owned a 7 ('88 Vert). Just a rotary girl at heart.

You're a more experience rotorhead than me, then. This is my first.
I have merely sat in the S in showrooms. Like the looks, but always heard the ride was rough.

Why is it called "Spa yellow"? Did somebody pee in it?

Congratulations, SpaYllwS2K:cool:

I also considered an S2K, when I bought my RX8. As a former modified Miata owner, an S2K seemed like a logical progression.

I am SO glad I passed on that. The RX8 is smoother, quieter, and carries 4 in comfort. Mazda really got it right. Oh yea, its also a great sports car :)

Welcome from another female 8 owner! We're kinda the minority around here, but the guys are cool ;)

I previously owned a 7 ('88 Vert). Just a rotary girl at heart.

From a fellow 2nd gen. RX-7 owner, welcome! It's great to see that rotorheads come in both genders. I think you'll find some significant improvements over the old 13B engine.

And as you'll quickly find out, the Lounge is largely populated by single males. To them, a "rotary girl at heart" is their idea of a perfect woman. Hell, to most of them, a girl with a heart is more than they dream about. Be prepared for a lot of attention. :)

A girl with a heart? There's an idea. Why didn't someone make that suggestion before I met the redhead?

Thanks again everyone!!! Still :D

I have to say yes the S2000's ride was a little rough and i'm loving the more comfy ride. I can't complain much about the S because i loved it A LOT!!! But since i haven't yet 'broken' in my 8 i'll leave my comments and comparison for later on when i really get to drive it.

My family (Brother, Sister and myself) have all previously owned 7's. My sis owned an 82. My brother had an 87 when I had my 88. We strayed away for a little bit, but my brother now owns an 88 'vert, white as well. I think that my sister and brother were the happiest when they saw my new car. They've also loved the 8 and they eventually want one for themselves!

Looking forward to taking pictures of my brothers car and mine next to each other, but i have to wait to make a special road trip up to Panama City for that. ;)

Thanks again everyone, I'm off to take my baby a bath and get him ready to look good in the South Florida SUN!!

Congrats!! I'm a female too. Haven't done many posts here, but don't think I've revealed that fact anywhere. Nice to see other women out there who can appreciate a great car. Had a 40-something blonde lady come up to me at the Shoney's breakfast bar not too long ago and said "Don't you drive the yellow car? I love that car. What is it?" I simply replied "Mazda" She says "Mazda? Who makes that?" I want to really say, "Go away and scrape the hot pink lipstick off your front teeth." But I politely replied "Mazda, I believe, made it and it's an RX8." Now go away!!

I traded an eclipse spyder for my 8. I loved my spyder. I know it gets slammed alot for being a too-weighty, FWD, "sports car", but I liked my convertible. Big difference between it and the 8. I waited to feel out the likelihood of a vertible 8, but didn't look like it was gonna happen, so I took the plunge for a hard top. Love the car and even though I pine occassionally for the top down effect, I'm dealing quite well.

Welcome. I had a 1989 RX-7 convertible - black . It was a great car. I miss it a lot. The top panel took two people to remove, but it provided a nice "targa" option. I live in NorCal and my wife and I used to drive up the coast, wind in our hair, etc. We used to go a great Bed and Breakfast in Westport.

Having a kid ended that. I had been pining for another rotary since then. I toyed with buying a use RX-7 conv. and refurbing it, but bought an 8 instead. Very happy with it.

Cheers!
Bob

PS: Looks like you may need to change your handle, now that you're rid of the S2000. ;)

80% of the time, the phrase 'goddamn high school forum' fits the rx7club forum perfectly :D

did I mention i'm also a former FC owner??? ('91 NA Coupe baby :D )

I think the 8 attracts more former FC owners (and bring them back in the fold :D ) than FD guys, lol
