How is this still popular??? Seriously. It looks like someone bought one bag of jumbo marshmellows, of which they only used one for the body, and a bag of mini marshmellows for the rest. RidicUlous.

Incidentally, did you know that alligators love marshmellows? Strange but true. I learned this from ol' Cap'n Sam in Lousiana, where he used his bandaged hand and a bag of marshmellows to lure 12 foot alligators to the side of his 10 foot boat, which him, me, and my friend were in. I told him my friend was interested in learning how to wrestle alligators (he just didn't know it yet). He showed me his bandaged hand. Hmm.

I bet alligators like poodles too.

Why wouldn't they? If they are going to own a sissy dog like that, they might as well make it look even more sissy.

Ok, I actually know the reason for this, as I'm the queen of random trivia.
Poodles were originally bred to assist hunters in wet, boggy areas.
The cut originated to leave a little more hair at their joints, (shoulders, hips and ankles) for protection in cold water. Because of this, the foof-ified version became the breed standard configuration.

I swear, I'm not kidding.
PS. Standard poodles are one of the smartest breeds of dogs. If I had one, I sure wouldn't give it that foppish haircut.

Wow, that's really interesting. But I have two questions for you:
1) Why not leave all the hair then?
2) You live in McKinney also? Wow. What crossroads?

They can't be too smart if they put up with haircuts like that :D

If pets tend to reflect the personality of their owners, what does a haircut like that say about this dog's owner?

They have marshmellows for brains, and they taste like chicken.

The item in bold leads me to believe that you are a female, which i did not know.

It also appears that you have wonderful google skills!

Abbid-Not googled. I was researching dogs about 5 years ago and it stuck in my head.

The picture is a show poodle. One of the critical characteristics of the poodle breed is its dense, always-growing, never-shedding coat, and that hairstyle (as bluesunlion said, originally derived from a clip used on water-retrieving poodles) shows the coat quality, texture, and length to a dog show judge. If a poodle doesn't have a correct coat, it can't pull off that marshmallow effect.

Those show dogs don't always look like that, of course. It takes several hours of bathing, blowdrying, fluffing, and scissoring to get that effect. When not at a show, those dogs look much more "normal".

That cut looks like it would keep the dingleberries from sticking to the fluff.
