Those of you that have your 8's, what were you driving before?

I went to my local dealer last night (Phoenix, AZ) and they actually have the EXACT car I want... red w/ red/black interior GT package.... it had not gone through PDI, so I couldn't drive it, but I will today.

I am driving an S2000 right now, and wondering how the 2 cars compare.

So far the reviews have been glowing, which is promising.... sooooo what were you driving before that serves as your baseline??

P.S. I am hoping this car is an S2000 w/ 4 seats.... I need the backseats now, but don't want to give up the handling!!!

I was driving a Toyota Celica GTS. As a matter of fact I'm one of the Admins at www.ClubCelica.com

I was driving a 98 Frontier daily, but my Girlfriend has an '03 350ZX. I have to say that the ride is similar, but the 8 just feels so much more refined. Unfortunately, that means it has a little body roll (but nothing that aftermarket parts can't fix if that is your sorta thing). The interior beats the CRRRRRAP out of the Z. :D

02' Miata Red great ride, but doesn't quite cut it on the speed/space ticket, everything else about it is dead on perfection!

Hercules started a thread comparing his S2000 and RX8 test drives. His final conclussion was zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom. Good reading.

I have never driven an S2000, my last car was a 95 Mercury Cougar XR7.

You should PM someone called JSG in the Far East forum. He had an S2000 for several years and switched to the RX-8 a few months ago in Japan.

I have driven an S2000 a few times and I will say it is the most thrilling vehicle I have ever driven, but I need four doors and four seats. I also tested the RX-8 recently but I did not get a chance to push the RX-8 due to bad weather conditions, so I will reserve my comments until my next test-drive.

1994 Mazda Miata with R Package (no AC, stiffer suspension, torsen rear). Currently has about 169,000 miles!

I'm keeping the Miata as daily driver. The RX-8 is my boring kid hauling sedan. :)

Before my 8, I was driving a '93 Pathfinder 4x4 and before that, an '88 RX-7 Convertible (Red like my 8).

2002 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro 5 speed. Haven't had a chance to drive the RX-8 yet, so can't I compare.

2001 Audi S4 with APR Stage III kit and other goodies :) -- Keeping it though, I would be very hard pressed to stop driving it. Buying the RX-8 to take on road trips and as a great complement to the Audi (light, nimble versus heavy torque monster)

No RX-8 yet.. driving my current car until the lease expires next spring.
Btw, I don't think the 8 will have the same handling abilities as the S2000. Close but not the same. Different mission for this car.
