Hi All,
I just had to trumpet my horn a little this morning. I had a great evening of cruisin' around town in my new RX8 last night. I had
put a deposit down on this particular car back in January, and have
been waiting in huge anticipation ever since.
WOOOOOOOOHHHHHHOOOOOOO!!!! My buddy who works as a salesman at
Galpin Mazda called me as soon as the truck with the first six RX8s
hit the lot.
Typically, it takes 24 hours to check the cars in, clean them up,
and get them ready to sell. However, Duke Maltin (my buddy) bribed the
tech dept into preparing my Titanium 6 speed immediately, and I
drove off the lot at 6:00 pm last night with what the Sales
Manager said was the VERY FIRST RX8 sold in California, and possibly
America!!! (I don't know did anybody take delivery sooner than yesterday afternoon?)
Duke and I and our wives went out to dinner on Sunset Blvd afterward, and it was amazing how much attention the car garnered
while just parked on the street. We watched in wonder as small
crowds of about six people at a time, off and on, would gather
around the car and start peeking in the windows while we ate dinner
just a few feet away. I must admit, it put a smile on my face when
Duke said "You know, there isn't another privately owned RX8 on the
road tonight anywhere, no matter where you went!"
Later, we put the car though its paces over Coldwater Canyon while
heading over to Studio City to drop off our friends. After that, we
drove home to Covina on the freeway; I'll say it again:
WOOOOOOOOHHHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!
My '99 Miata is still in the shop for a few more days, so at least I finally have a decent substitution for the time being! :)
Signed,
Probably Won't Sleep for the Next Few Days
