I took my car in today to replace a rear taillight with condensation in it. While there I spoke with my service advisor about the upcoming recalls. He said his dealership is still waiting on the parts to arrive for the gas tank/heat shield recall, and had heard nothing about the pending lower control arm recall. I asked him if he'd heard that there may be a few hundred cars awaiting new engines in some particularly hot climates, and said he knew nothing about it and as yet has not seen any cars with the same problem at his dealership.
At this point, I could see I wasn't going to learn anything from him that I didn't already know. So I casually asked him what kinds of problems he normally sees with the 8. "Flooding" he says. "In fact, we probably see 1 - 2 cars a day that have flooded. People move them short distances and don't let them warm up before shutting them off."
Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather! I don't recall any flooding reported on this forum over the past six months, and it was my impression that the "M" flash rendered the car mostly floodproof. I'm amazed that flooding continues to be an ongoing issue with this automobile. Anyone care to share a recent flooding experience?

Gee, a dealer service writer says something and you believe it? I find the service writers to be a close second behind the car sales people when it comes to lack of credibility. Sounds to me that yours felt like he had to say something and filled the silence. Probably thought that flooding was a good thing to say because it is driver error and not a product problem.

were it that I had only driven 14.7 miles, I should think that I would be the most susceptible to flooding.

Just flooded mine today for the first time. Was washing and waxing it and stupidly forgot to let it run. I've waited several hours and nothing. Totally lame.
