Yesterday it was a near record 97+ here in Raleigh, and today it's suppose to break the century mark. Last night at midnight, it was still in the mid 80's!

I left a spare quart of oil in the trunk, still wrapped in the plastic bag I bought it in. When I left for work, I went to put my laptop in the trunk, and noticed that the bag was 'wet'. The damn plastic quart bottle of oil had literally blown the top off and oil was all over the inside of my trunk.

I don't think that my warranty is gonna cover this. :D

Doesn't oil eat through those plastic bags?

Of course it's too late now, but you'll find that two quarts of oil and a half-roll of paper towels fit perfectly (and upright) in the passthrough pocket.

Crap, usualy, I leave the oil in the pass through bin.
But my kids opened it up and threw the oil in the trunk.
I better go check it.

At least motor oil doesn't smell bad.
Pull the carpet and do a steam cleaning.

Could be worse, I was transporting a miata rear end in the back
of my Xterra. I was told it was "bone dry" when I got home, I noticed that it
had leaked gear oil all over the carpet. That was two years and two
dozen cleanings ago.

I can still smell it. Stinky gear oil.

Doesn't oil eat through those plastic bags? Maybe, after time, it will, but I managed to catch it in time.

I've heard kitty litter does a great job of soaking up oil spills on the driveway, mebbe would help? May help it smell better?

I can smell a little 'oily' oder inside of the cabin. I just hope that it doesn't get any worse. I pulled the carpeting, sprayed it with Simple Green (great stuff), and put the pressure washer to it. I may have to repeat multiple times to get it all off.

Makes me wish that I had gotten the pearl-white 8 instead of the Shinka, but alas, the burdens of getting a dark car.

I was just suprised that it got that freaking hot inside of the trunk!

Where did you pick up the Shinka?

I remember seeing one at Al Smith or So. States (whatever it is now)
a few months ago.

Have you priced, replacing the carpet?

Haven't priced replacing the carpeting yet, waiting to see if any of the cleaning efforts paid off yet. (crossing fingers).

We picked her up at Southern (Beltline and Wake Forest) a little over a month ago. Could be the same one you saw. There were two there, an auto and a manual. We got the manual (naturally :D)
