Howdy all.!
I just love the way MAZDA as a company is heading. All their new cars kick ass.

I've been a very fortunate owner of a 2003 Mazda 6s for the last 3 months. I absolutely love her.
But then ... then this new mistress showed up. Everyone who's riden her praises her services to heaven. Her name is RX-8.

What am I to do ???
The one I have is good looking and dependable (so far). It also seems she is not high maintanace at all.
The Rx8 is just damn beautiful. She moans like none other. But isn't she gonna be high maintenance? Thats my major concern. I drove a 1986 RX7 for 3 years. I loved that one too, but I spent more time fixin her than driving her.

Do you guys think I should go trade in my 6 for RX8, or should I wait a little to see how the 8's do after the breakin period ?

Considering everythign is covered by a warranty... I wouldn't worry one way or another.

The question is, do you want to bite the bullet and also face the cost of doing so right away, or do you want to wait?

I can't wait any more.. I've waited for two years already... so for me it's a must-have :)

But you already have a nice car... so if I were you... I'd hold out for a while.

A Sepang 6! Man you better hold onto that, that's the rarest of all colors for the 6.

Im going through the same things you are though; I'm considering trading in my 6 for an 8. I love the 6 and all, but the 8 is temptress.

not that the 6 isn't a fantabulous car...and not that salesmen have a whole lot of credibility on this forum, but i was chatting with some random salesman while waiting for paperwork on my 8 and he drives a mustang cobra, he mentioned the 220hp mazda6 is a phenomenal car but now that they have an 8 for test drives, the difference is night and day.

take it with a grain of salt, that 6 is real nice

If you don't need the space then go with the 8.

As for the maintainence costs, they shouldn't be anything like the FD on because the RX8 isn't turbocharged and mazda spent a lot more time on the 8 to make sure they got everything right.

You could always wait for the 260bhp 6 ....

Hope you have lots of money because if you trade your car in now you will lose a lot of its value. As soon as you drive a car off the lot its value drops about 15-20%.

If you don't care, trade it in. You wont be the first. If you do care, wait a couple of years and get the next iteration of the 8, or maybe even a 7.

Never buy a first year car unless you have no other choice. And you have a great 3 month old car now. Stay with it for at least another year and trade in for a 2005 RX-8 (by which time most discovered issues will be resolved and prices will be close to invoice) - perhaps the MazdaSpeed will be out by then.

Your car is only 3 months old. I think you would lose alot of money if you were to trade it in for an RX-8.
I just got a VW GTI and now I want an RX-8 also. :o
