View Full Version : Want info? Ask a Z owner!!!
Pooch350Z 07-16-2003, 08:21 AM To all my future RX-8 victims, ;) your cars are on the way.
I’m tracking the VIN (2086) of a friend who has an RX- 8 on order. He received his VIN last month. I found a few other VIN’s in another thread and checked them too. As you can see the cars are starting to move.
I’ll be tracking my friend’s until delivery (about two weeks) so if you received you VIN, send it to me and I’ll add it to the query. I check about 2 or 3 times a day.
I went though the same thing as you guys last fall waiting for my Z so I feel your pain.
Pooch
rotorian 07-16-2003, 08:32 AM Could you please check JM1FE17324********?
I'm told last status was at port.
many thanks
wakeech's edit: just for safety's sake.
rotorian 07-16-2003, 08:34 AM Oops! Just looked closely, saw you checked already.
Much appreciated, any updates welcomed.
funksoulbrother 07-16-2003, 09:12 AM Just sent you a PM
Please let me know
I can't take the ambiguity much longer
rotorian 07-16-2003, 09:31 AM OrangeBingo,
I think Pooch is only able to check Canadian cars coming from Vancouver on CN rail. sorry
Redshift 07-16-2003, 10:00 AM Score! I was going to ask you to check mine, but I noticed the screenshot you have is for a car bound for Dartmouth NS, which is where I am and where my car is bound. So, I have to believe my car is on the same train.
Jasper_the_2nd 07-16-2003, 10:12 AM Thank you Pooch350Z!
That's my car (00839)!
One week until it gets here.
I think I'll just go call my dealership now.....:D
Pooch350Z 07-16-2003, 11:51 AM Here's an update. Looks like those in the east are in good shape.
wakeech 07-16-2003, 12:10 PM ...just another word of warning about writing your complete VIN number in public: the unscrupulous CAN go to a dealership and get a key cut with the right microchips in it, if you know what i mean. please, use discresion (ie, PM's at minimum)
B-Nez 07-16-2003, 01:41 PM Maybe I'd better scratch the VIN off my car, too, when I get it?:p Just being a smarta$$!
Ogilthorpe 07-16-2003, 03:28 PM Thanks Pooch350Z, nice job !
Called my dealer and my car is now in port :)
Hope that it will be on rail soon...
I'll send you my VIN via a private message.

Don't laugh. My old Civic SiR had a piece of electrical tape over the VIN. I didn't take it off when I sold it, so for all I know it's still on there.

How many digits can we give, to be safe AND allow the query?
Ron_Jeremy 07-16-2003, 07:53 PM Hi,
I just sent you a PM as well... thanks in advance for your help... the anticipation is making Ron Jeremy go numb...
Thunder 07-16-2003, 08:46 PM wakeech,
I agree- I've been watching our southern cousins (AKA USA) with a bit of incredulosity while they post their VINs to the forum. I ask myself. Would you post your newborn baby's SIN (Social Insurance Number) on the internet ??? I do not think its a good idea!!! NO!! That is somehow inherently stupid. The VIN is to the car as a SIN is to a person- With that number, a lot of malicious can potentially go down- like someone getting a loan with your car as collateral, insurance fraud, etc. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but something to consider if you are considering positing your VIN for some reason.
Canada 07-16-2003, 08:56 PM On the other hand, you'd think that proof of ownership, not just VIN, would have to be shown to get any keys made or loan collateral approved.
Thunder 07-16-2003, 09:04 PM Can any forum members out there help me out --- i need ownership papers for the follwing name and car- Oh and here's my address in Burlington...
(Canada: true, but my choice is just to hang on to that number like the precious littile bit of information it is)

I'm collecting VINs and ordering keys. Got about 15 so far. ;)
I meant I'll be waiting for you guys at every red light :D
BTW IMHO if someone wants a VIN he just walks up to the car in a driveway and reads it and then does whatever he wants. I might be wrong but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Or is that just Montreal? :D

Regardless, Pooch will be there on your tail in his 350Z, trying to get in a position to read your VIN!
TT2RX8 07-17-2003, 07:44 AM Hey Pooch,
Do you know if there is any Rx-8 for Quebec City on rail right now?? My lease end on the 28th and my vacation starts on the 26th... still hoping to get my RX-8 by that time!
Hope to see you at the corner of Charest and St-Sacrement... nice drag strip :D

Only cars for Dartmouth so far. Send me your VIN and I'll keep an eye out for it.
BTW the 4 cars arrived in Jasper, AB last night. I will post an update later today.
As for Charest/St-Sacrement I've seen 260 KM/h a few times in my C43 AMG and about 250 in my Z before reaching Henri IV so I be looking for you. :p
TT2RX8 07-17-2003, 08:33 AM Thank's Pooch,
I'll try to contact my dealer and get my VIN but so far they don't seem to know a lot about the car
About the "race"... you win... I guess I'm getting to old for that stuff  The other day, I was driving at close to 200 and just before Henri IV's overpass I slowed down... to 120... lucky for me because just behind it, a nice policeman was waiting with his radar... I looked at him and smiled :D
See ya
Pooch350Z 07-17-2003, 11:32 AM So far so good.
I'll post another tonight around 11:00 PM eastern.

There have been numerous people who have talked about how they were surprised that they could just walk into such and such a dealership with just the VIN, and got a key without anyone even asking for proof of ownership.
And don't forget about the people who work at the dealership. There are some unscrupulous types who work there (alright, no salesman jokes ;)) who would be able to bypass all of those "checks". I know of one dealership in Houston where friends would take their cars for basic service, and stuff would either be stolen off the car at the dealership, or coincidentally the day or two after their visit from their car at home. Of course, the dealership never helped anyone in finding the culprit, even when it happened on their property in the daytime.
Not that that is every dealership, and not to deride dealerships in general, but frankly, your security is not their top concern. And it only takes one.

Pooch350Z 07-17-2003, 09:32 PM The 4 cars that are on CN rail are just entering Saskatchewan. I'll update again tomorrow before noon.
The list is getting long so from now on I'll only post those that are active. If you sent me your VIN and it's not appearing on the post it simply means your car is not on the train yet but don't worry I'll keep checking them.
bgparsons3 07-18-2003, 07:13 AM Heya Pooch
Really appreciate the help - my vehicle should be on the Dartmouth rail car as well, VIN submitted to you via PM.
Thx
wakeech 07-18-2003, 12:37 PM ...i've made the decision that the screen shots of multiple VIN numbers and information are a strict no-no... i'm sorry to make your job a little more effort intensive Pooch, but knowing about the information which can be found through VINs, after you've taken delivery, i'm making the call that public posting of VINs is a no-go at all in the Canada forum: all VIN checking and information must go through PM's, or some other section if you still REALLY want to make it public.
i'm sorry, but i sincerely don't want any bad business to come of this forum.
sincerest regards,
Andrew
rotorian 07-18-2003, 01:25 PM I don't agree with your decision. I think it should be up to the owner of the VIN. There has been all kinds of VIN's posted all through this forum, why worry about it now?
Unless someone knows your personal information (full name, address etc) I think a VIN is useless to anyone. Am I missing something here?
I'd be interested to know everyone else's opinion.
Jasper_the_2nd 07-18-2003, 01:32 PM I agree that it should be personal choice.
But if it is going to stay no VINs, I've already PM'd Pooch and offered to help with keeping everyone updated.
Since he's already going out of his way to get us this info, I'd be glad to do the distribution for him, especially since he isn't even waiting for an 8.
Of course, that's only if people don't mind me having their VINs...
Quick_lude 07-18-2003, 01:37 PM I don't think that anyone should be posting any VIN number without the permission of the owner of said VIN. Common courtesy, since some people adhere to security on different levels.
BUT I don't think posting VIN numbers should be banned outright, especially when it's done by one persons point of view.
Andrew, did you discuss this with the other mods and Admins of this site? How about the owners of these VINs? I don't agree with this decision either, it's too broad and should be discussed.
rotorian 07-18-2003, 01:37 PM The more I think about this, it's a joke. I appreciate your concerns Wakeech, but think about it. When your car is parked in a parking lot, the VIN is in full display to the public! You don't even have a car on order, so chill out.
Maybe I'm not smart enough to realize what someone can do with just a VIN and nothing else. The RX 8 Forum surely couldn't be held liable for anything discussed or displayed in the public domain!
Quick_lude 07-18-2003, 01:40 PM Originally posted by rotorian

In Canada probably no... In the US with thier trigger happy lawyers, maybe. :)
Like I said, if the owner decides to post it up, it's his/her perogative.
Btw, the fact that Andrew doesn't have an 8 on order doesn't preclude him from being a good mod. He could drive a scooter for all I care. :)
rotorian 07-18-2003, 01:40 PM I agree with these other opinions.
Also there is no way to even prove that someone "owns" a VIN.
This is all anonymous, no one knows who we all really are, unless we decide to post that info as some have in this Candian Forum.
rotorian 07-18-2003, 01:47 PM I hope Wakeech isn't upset with my comment about not having an 8 on order. What I meant to convey is we who have cars coming, have a personal interest in any and all info available. Anyone else wouldn't be as "anxious" as we are, especially with all the lack of info, and the fact that so many cars have been delivered in the US. This is the first time we can see any light at the end of the tunnel, as the US guys couldn't run our #'s for us.

Playing devils advocate, who owns the VIN prior to the customer paying for the car? I am suggesting that it is not our forum members, just my 2 cents.
Thunder 07-18-2003, 04:40 PM Andrew: I think you did the right thing. Thanks. A tough decision and shows good "moderation", IMHO.
Rotorian: You're not going to be very anonymous when you get that stunning winning blue RX-8 GT with moonroof- I'd guess one of a very very few in the Oakville/Burlington/Hamilton area. More eyes are going to be on that car than you can ever imagine!!!
I don't know....it seems self-evident to me. I think its great that people are helping out with tracking the car, and this is a great little community we've got going, and sharing and cooperation are....well....just canadian things to do....but please, lets on this one thing try to err on the side of caution......for the security of our members and their beloved (or soon to be) cars.
Pooch350Z 07-18-2003, 05:17 PM Man a lot of stuff went on here while I was gone.
Thanks to those who appreciate the effort. It's no problem for me not to show the VIN.
As for the others, I know me and my fellow Z drivers will enjoy the fact that almost half the RX-8 drivers on the road will be WUSSIES!!!!. :p

No other VINs come up so far.
I'll update again over the weekend.

again, sorry, i'm a dummy... OVER moderation... hahaha... Pooch you're doing a great job.
LiQuiDLaM 07-18-2003, 05:25 PM As moderator of this forum, Keech had the right to disallow the publication of people's VINs, if you PM, that's fine since you are the one making the choice on whether or not you want people to know your VIN! Plus, it's always better safe than sorry! I think Keech did a good move here, regardless of whether he discussed it with other mods or not! I mean, the other guys aren't going to babysit Keech and tell him what to do under each situation! Obviously, Keech has the appropriate skills that ultimately led him to becoming a mod! And Keech specifically said you can continue to lookup your cars through private sections, but once your car is released and sold, that VIN should be kept safe since you no longer need updates on the car. Different Mods have different rules. To sum up,it's all because he CARES for our cars!

bgparsons3 07-19-2003, 05:22 AM Pooch - you think that the CN date of July 23 at Dartmouth is correct? Mazda is still insisting the ride from Van to Dartmouth is 12-14 days. I hope the 23rd is right - trying to get a little more confidence in it as I'm buying airfare to cooincide with Dartmouth delivery date.
mdmaclean - Faster? That is a direct function of who's ass occupies the "sculpted bucket seat." Pooch, I'll drop you a line if I'm passing through Quebec City. Maybe we can arrange to meet at a secluded little redlight someplace....

Bgparsons3,
I expect your car to arrive in Dartmouth on July 22.
It left Armstrong Station, Ontario this morning and will likely be in Toronto tonight. I can't remember last fall when I was waiting for my Z if CN moved on Sundays but as I mentioned to someone in a PM, CN's ETA is always conservative.
DO NOT BOOK A FLIGHT FOR THOSE DATES YET.
It can take a couple of days to unload from rail car to delivery truck plus rail yards are not places where the public can have access to. Even dealers usually can't pick up cars there so make sure you get the okay from everyone involved.
Not to discourage you but in my opinion you or the dealer will not be able to pick up the car at the rail yard.
FYI last October my car went from Vancouver to Montreal in 5 days via CN and then took 6 days to be trucked from MTL to Quebec because THE ASSHOLE COMPANY (used to be called Auto Haul-Away, Kingsway now I think) that delivers cars to all dealers has no competition and allow themselves to be very independent.
Good luck and be patient.

Pooch350Z 07-20-2003, 07:06 PM UPDATE:
From now on I will post without showing the VINs so make sure to take note the rail car that's carrying your car.
Rail car # TTGX982022 has 3 cars:Bgparsons3,Redshift, Jasper_the_2nd
Rail car # TTGX982345 has 2 cars: Funksoulbrother, Jasper_the_2nd (car # 2)
Another rail car loaded yesterday and has an ETA of 7/29 but has stopped moving. It's probably because the rail car needs repairs.
Rail car # ETTX802670 has 1 car: Redshift (car #2)
All other VINs sent to me are still no match.
I'll post again tomorrow.
Jasper_the_2nd 07-20-2003, 07:18 PM Thanks for the update!
Is it just me, or is this train going slower the closer it gets?
Bulldog6670 07-20-2003, 07:27 PM Thanks for the update Pooch350Z.
Since my VIN does not come through on your check, would the car be shipped under the dealer's name or something along that line. The dealer insists my car will be in Toronto this week so I'm wondering why it's not showing up on your list. I'm sure there must be more than 6 cars being shipped. Can you check how many RX-8's are on rail and when they are expected to arrive in Toronto?

-CN uses VIN numbers only, the owner name changes nothing.
-There are only six from the list of VINs I have but there surly are more.
-No I can't check how many and when.
- Dealers bullshit all the time. I would think anything east of Alberta will go on CN. Maybe he gave you the wrong VIN but I doubt it because the pattern is clear, only Atlantic provinces are moving so far.
Canada 07-20-2003, 08:02 PM Hmmm...no rail cars carrying RX-8s on their way to Montreal?
Jasper_the_2nd 07-20-2003, 08:27 PM Is it possible that Mazda is using a different company to do the shipping to Ontario and Quebec? I know someone had mentioned L. Hansen's Forwarding (http://www.lhf.com/) a month or so ago. If they offered a better shipping rate to Ontario, couldn't Mazda be using them (or someone else) instead? And if they did I'd assume the cars couldn't be tracked by the CN system, even if it's a CN engine pulling them.
Or, since I know nothing about how car transporting works, this could all just be total crap.
It was just a thought.
Anyone who knows anything about this kind of stuff care to comment?
bgparsons3 07-21-2003, 06:19 AM Redshift / Jasper - 2 cars each? I assume you are each tracking one for a friend - how many sold in NS that you know of? Steele told me that had 2 sold (2 weeks ago info).
Redshift 07-21-2003, 06:29 AM Actually, I couldn't decide between two colours, so thought I'd buy them both. :)
Seriously though, I'm actually tracking a 2nd car for Steele.
You are correct, Steele have sold 2 so far. Mine, and a Red GT that they are also having me keep an eye on for them.
They told me they are getting 2 more (1 is an Auto) in a later boatload.
Mills in Truro have a Silver GT on the same train as your, mine and Jasper's cars, which I do not believe is sold. (They are a brand new dealership.. sort of.)
Jasper_the_2nd 07-21-2003, 06:54 AM Yeah, I'm tracking an extra one for Target. A red GT, which is sold.
So we know of 5 right now at 3 dealerships.
There are three other dealerships in N.S., Kentville, City and Sydney. Since they are supposed to be shipping at least one car to every dealership, there should be at least 3 more cars on the first train.
Redshift 07-21-2003, 07:54 AM Yeah, about 8 cars on the first train sounds right. Actually, kinda sounds like 1 car load to me.
Oh well, 1 of 8 in the province is still pretty exclusive, right? :)
bgparsons3 07-21-2003, 08:08 AM Yeah - I was enjoying my 1 of 1 status in Nfld but apparently someone in Bay Roberts bought a Winning Blue GS that the dealership was bringing in.
Jasper_the_2nd 07-21-2003, 08:10 AM Yeah, but I wish that Mills car was a Titanium instead of another silver. Two silver within 50 km is one too many. :)
Redshift 07-21-2003, 08:45 AM Jasper, not only is it 2 Silver in 50km, but there is also a 2nd RX-8 GT in your town, even at your work isn't there?
At least I'll be one of 3 in a bigger pond. :)
So far, I'm the only Winning Blue confirmed into the province. I'm sure one of the unknowns will be as well.
Jasper_the_2nd 07-21-2003, 09:20 AM Redshift,
Nope, he's retired now (at least mostly). He worked at one of the other buildings anyway.
It's unlikely I'll ever see his anyway. I've never seen his Prowler, I've never seen his BMW, and I hadn't seens his Mini Cooper until he took it over to Target. Not surprising, about the Cooper anyway, since it still only has about 1700 km on it and he's already trading it in.
Must be nice....
Redshift 07-21-2003, 09:34 AM Wow. I can only hope retirement is half that lucrative for me.
In fact, I work my ass off now, and THAT isn't as lucrative for me as his retirement is. :)
Actually, I gotta say, anybody else finding their productivity way down the last week or so? The car is so close I can taste it... it's kind of taken over my existence and all of my thoughts. :)
Jasper_the_2nd 07-21-2003, 09:42 AM You mean like:
Read a work email; check for an update from Pooch350Z.
Do 5 minutes of work; go talk about the car for 20 minutes.
Get back to your desk; check for an update from Pooch350Z.
Check the work email again; go read about the lucky Americans who already have their cars.
Repeat.
Nope. Nothing like that going on here......

Bulldog6670 07-21-2003, 04:01 PM You guys think you have it tough waiting... At least you know your cars are coming via Pooch350Z's checks. My dealer still tells me mine will be in by mid-week, but VIN check from Pooch350Z shows negative.

rotorian 07-21-2003, 04:14 PM My Dealer has no more info other than "in port" (for over 2 weeks?)
I'm just hoping it's been shipped and Pooch doesn't have info on it.
Pooch350Z 07-21-2003, 08:03 PM Here's an update.
BTW Aston Junction is just west of Quebec City. It's starting to look like the ETA of 16:00 on 7/23 will easily be met.
I'll try to update before noon (eastern) tomorrow.
Once again all other VINs are still no match.

Actually, I gotta say, anybody else finding their productivity way down the last week or so? The car is so close I can taste it... it's kind of taken over my existence and all of my thoughts. :)
Gets worse after you get it! :D Spent 5 mins reading work E-mail then 45 mins showing off the car etc etc.
rotorian 07-21-2003, 08:20 PM Here's some hope for all the Ontario cars. My dealer told me tonight that their printout shows my car "on rail" for the past few days.
He expects it very soon.
Maybe one of the earlier comments was correct and our cars are being shipped differently?
Let's cross our fingers!
Pooch350Z 07-21-2003, 08:33 PM One more time.
Joffre is south/east of Quebec City in a town called Charny.
If it wasn't dark I'd go take a picture of your cars
Jasper_the_2nd 07-21-2003, 08:36 PM Man, this is so much worse than waiting for Christmas as a kid.
At least you knew for sure when Christmas was....
Hopefully only 1 or 2 more sleeps until our "presents" get here :)
(And yes, for those thinking it, it is possible I got too much sun out golfing this evening....)
Redshift 07-21-2003, 08:47 PM Pooch, I have to say, your are probably one of my favourite people in the world at the moment.
You've earned your self a permenant place on my Christmas Card List (If I had one.)
Better yet, if you ever make it to Halifax, let me know. I'm buying.
A summer Patio Party at the Lower Deck is a wonderful thing.
MadJoker 07-21-2003, 11:09 PM Hummm, how many RX8 are on that train ??
Wonder if my came in , in montreal, does anyone know if it stoped there ??
Arggggg, that wait is a ?%/$/?%/$%$. There is more suspense here than any Stephen King Book !!:D ..
Ah well, gonna have to wait for the dealer , I'm giving him more info on it then he has.
well , thats it,
Pooch350Z 07-22-2003, 09:21 AM You'll be sleeping better tonight cause your car is about 300 miles from destination. Can you feel it ?
Still no other active VINs.
Look for another update this afternoon.
Redshift 07-22-2003, 09:27 AM Sleeping better tonight? Does a 5-year old sleep well on Christmas Eve?
SO SO SO Close.
Thanks a bunch Pooch. And my offer stands. :)
Jasper_the_2nd 07-22-2003, 10:14 AM Damn! There I was, wasting time working, when I could have know about that update much earlier....
Definately forget sleeping tonight; the cars should be in the autoport by then. That update was two hours ago, so it should be to Fredericton by now, which is only what, 5 or 6 hours from Dartmouth, depending on the stops in between?
Yep, Pooch, you come to N.S. and we'll take good care of ya!
Pooch350Z 07-22-2003, 10:28 AM Redshift & Jasper thanks for the offer, you never know I might make down your way one day.
If I do I'll give you guys ample warning so you can stock up the bars. I'm of Irish/Scottish/French heritage but the Irish tends to dominate. ;)
Oh and I might wait until I have my Greddy twin turbo kit installed on my Z just to be safe
Redshift 07-22-2003, 11:05 AM Well, with the new highway, it's about 4.5 hours by car from Dartmouth to Fredericton...so... the train should be in to the Autoport tonight.
No sleep for me. :)
My productivity is now officially shot... damn you! :)
If you've got some Irish in you, then this is the town. We've got the beer, the bars and the music to make you have a good time.
If you get the TT kit on your 350Z, you BETTER come down this way with it. To be honest, the existence of that kit is part of what put the G35 Couple on my shopping list before I settled on the RX.

Get back to work!!!!
Redshift 07-22-2003, 11:40 AM I'm trying!
I'm now surfing while talking on the phone. :)
Moncton? But, but, but... that's only 2.5 hours away by car!
Jasper_the_2nd 07-22-2003, 11:47 AM Yeah, but if you are talking to your Mazda dealer, it doesn't count.:)

Haha, no I'm talking to customers. :)
Lucky for me most of my demanding/high maintenance customers are on vacation right now. The majority of the stuff on the go I can leave to my call-center rep who backs me up. :)
Bulldog6670 07-22-2003, 12:37 PM I'm real happy for you guys out east. Looks like you'll be driving your RX-8s well before we even to get to worrying about how many sleeps are left till ours come in the GTA.
I spoke with the sales manager at my dealer. He says my car has been showing on rail for well over a week now, and the latest he received this morning is that it is still on rail. I don't know what gives here.
Anyway, please get your pictures out to us and your first impressions of the car.
Pooch350Z 07-22-2003, 02:56 PM I'll try to get a freight status ASAP.
ZoomZoom 07-22-2003, 02:58 PM LOL!!! :(
Pooch350Z 07-22-2003, 02:59 PM Sorry guys I couldn't resist :D
I would have loved to see your faces two minutes ago.
The cars have been sitting in Moncton for a few hours now but I don't know why. I'll update later tonight.
:)
bgparsons3 07-22-2003, 03:07 PM I can see the ATV Latenight News coverage of several flaming rail cars just outside Moncton, the CN logo is just barely visible through the smoke. Just over the hill, where one of the cars has rolled off into a nearby creek, I can make out the unmistakable glint of the fire reflecting off a beautifully sculpted Titanium Grey fender .... Christmas Eve has become hell ...
Pooch - don't think for a second that we don't appreciate all the information updates, but do not toy with us.
Redshift 07-22-2003, 04:30 PM Bwahahaha... thanks Pooch... I needed that chuckle! :)
Pooch350Z 07-22-2003, 06:26 PM Quick update:
The cars are moving again but the ETA has changed. Both were extended and are different
Redshift 07-22-2003, 06:40 PM That is really weird.
Halifax is only a couple hours down the line from Moncton. I have no idea how they could possibly cause it to take 2 days to move the cars... unless the ETA time includes the time to unload the cars in Halifax?
Jasper_the_2nd 07-22-2003, 07:03 PM The good news is, 982022 is the car with redshift's, bgparson3's and my cars on it, and it's the first car due
Redshift 07-22-2003, 07:05 PM Just talked to my guy who works for CN.
The rail-car with my car on it (982022) passed through Sackville NB about 30 mins ago... ETA into Halifax is around 2AM.
No explanation for the pushed out ETA at the receiver though.
He's working on it.
Jasper_the_2nd 07-22-2003, 08:06 PM I had a thought on the second train car. It has funksoulbrother's car on it. Wasn't he the guy in who'd moved to Ontario but his car was going to PEI? If so they could be sending that train car over to the Island first.
Pooch350Z 07-22-2003, 09:22 PM They're almost home.
Pleasant dreams............
funksoulbrother 07-22-2003, 10:32 PM Originally posted by Jasper_the_2nd

That would be AMAZING but they are going to Halifax and loaded on a truck to spud island according to my guy. But he was stunned when I showed him a print out of the shipping news.
So now that I'm behind the rest of you I don't know when I'm going to get it. I was going out there next week to get it and I'm going to be mighty upset if I'm out there without my car.
But if it is there it's going to be a GREAT ride home!
funksoulbrother 07-22-2003, 10:35 PM SECOND THOUGHT QUESTION
How long does it take to unload a train full of cars. There is only a 6.5 hour difference in the arrival times. Time to move one train in, unload, move the next in???
Any way we can track these after they arrive at the auto yard?
I was told 7-10 days from landing to being on the island. Sound right to anyone?
Redshift 07-23-2003, 04:43 AM A buddy of mine's father works for CN at they yard. (Last night he called in to confirm our rail car was arriving.)
Anyway, according to him, the unload the rail-cars ASAP to get the cars back into service.
Anyway, when he gets in this morning he's going to see if he can track down our rail cars (I gave him the number) and/or find a batch of unloaded RX-8s. He's going to give me a call and let me know either way.
I'll keep you guys updated as I am.
Pooch350Z 07-23-2003, 05:47 AM Congratulations gentlemen your babies are home.
Let me know if it was worth the wait.
Have a good day.
BTW no other VINs are matching but apparently at least two were already unloaded in MTL so unfortunately I don't really know what the deal is
Redshift 07-23-2003, 06:32 AM Thanks a TON Pooch. You made the wait tolerable.
I've got the cars that arrived in Dartmouth from here!
bgparsons3 07-23-2003, 06:40 AM I'm trying to line up some of the guys who work for me in Dartmouth to drive by and get some pics ... too close ....
Pooch - same offer stands if you ever find yourself in St. John's, there's a Smithwick's tap at Erin's pub with your name on it.
Redshift 07-23-2003, 06:49 AM Erin's? Nice choice.
I've been kinda partial to Bridie Malloy's (sp?) since they opened that up, but pretty much every bar there has it's appeal.
That reminds me, I haven't been to St. John's in a couple months...
bgparsons3 07-23-2003, 08:00 AM Bridie Molloy's is St. John's version of the Old Triangle (minus the outstanding live entertainment 7 days a week @ the Triangle). A nice enough pub, a little synthetic for my taste.
If you're coming to St. John's (or Halifax for that matter) you may as well experience the real deal as opposed to a synthetic Irish pub you might as well find in Houston or L.A. Erin's is among the last of a dying breed in St. John's .... if you ever consider driving to St. John's, give me a shout and I'll introduce you.
Redshift 07-23-2003, 08:15 AM Well, to be honest.. I kinda liked Bridie's because it reminded me of the Old Triangle. :)
You are right though, for somebody coming from out of town, looking for the authentic experience, you need to go to a place like Erin's, or in Halifax, a place like O'Carrol's.
Redshift 07-24-2003, 05:26 AM Pooch, not to be too demanding but, any updates on that third rail car?
Pooch350Z 07-24-2003, 07:50 AM Here you go.
The other twelve I'm following still don't appear in CN's system.
Pooch350Z 07-24-2003, 02:09 PM Here's a quicky.
I'm noticing that a lot of cars I've been following and that never appeared online have arrived (Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City so far) so don't get discouraged when I mention that your VIN hasn't appeared because it's obvious now that a lot will never appear in CN's system.
Canada 07-24-2003, 08:52 PM My dealer here in Montreal said he received a red GT 6s he called a "press car". I will go look at it & sit in it tomorrow morning before it drives off. Mine (a Titanium GS AT) is supposed to be here this week & released next week. I'm excited, but let's all hope that I will fit in it (I'm 6' 3").
Pooch350Z 07-24-2003, 09:08 PM One more update.
Pooch350Z 07-25-2003, 09:58 AM Here's the status of the last car.
Pooch350Z 07-25-2003, 03:56 PM Here is an update for the last car. I expect it to arrive on Sunday night. Look for another update then.
My friend just came back from vacation yesterday and spoke to his dealer who said his car had arrived a few days ago and was now sitting in their garage but they don't want to deliver it until next week around Wednesday. It's now obvious that the other twelve VINs will never appear in the CN system.
As a result my posts will soon be ending. As of today, I'll quit checking the other twelve. If you're one of the twelve, put pressure on your dealers because your car is probably already arrived.
I will come back every once and a while so if you PM me your VIN I'll gladly check it for you.
Finally, look for a new post with pictures called "Miss Z meets Miss RX-8" coming ASAP.
Pooch350Z 07-29-2003, 06:19 AM Last rail car finally arrived last night after sitting in Moncton for over a day.
mdmaclean 07-31-2003, 08:59 PM My dealer, who had been saying that it was showing as "in stock" (presumably in Toronto), now says my GT has gone back to "RAIL".
Who knows when it will arrive now, probably at least two weeks...
Canada 07-31-2003, 10:05 PM Same with mine. Last week I was told it was expected to arrive that week, now it is listed back in Vancouver.
mdmaclean 08-01-2003, 07:28 AM I guess this explains why Pooch350Z could never find my car on CN rail.
