In the past year we've gotten to know each other personally and share our love not only for the RX-8, but automobiles in general. Some of us will have RX-8s before long; others, it may be a year or so down the road.

I was thinking it would be pretty cool if we could all get together and meet for a party/RX-8 event/car cruise, etc. Sure, we are a nationwide audience, but we love cars (and probably road trips by association) so an RX-8 Forum car cruise/road trip etc could be fun for those of us who are a bit adventurous and can make the trip. We'd have to select a town somewhere in the middle of the country (Kansas City?) so it would be no more than a two day drive for anyone. (Central US people would have it lucky.) We would probably see every possible permutation of the RX-8 on display.

Maybe we could get some Mazda sponsorship of some kind and make it into the USA Today. If a national event is too ambitious, maybe we could start with some regional ones.

Just an idea, anyway... I consider you guys here friends now and think you would be fun to hang out with! Plus, seeing all the RX-8s together and meeting each other would be pretty wild. I'm not much of an event organizer but maybe someone here is.

why not make it a traveling meet. pick a big circle route through the US and Canada (or maybe a snake with three major e-w lengths. give dates for each point. go about 200 a day. always start at a specific time and publish the route to the next point. folks can roll into the caravan when they can and it's close. should give some good overlap between local groups and be fun besides. let's get some nominations for favorite roads to keep in the directions.

also be sure to overlap any major events like sevenstock.

Maybe have a few regional meets a year and an annual national/international (i didn't forget about or northern neighbors) one as you suggest?

The East Coast Rotors & Roadsters Expo was in June :(
But next year I bet we add two classes to the car show:
RX-8 stock and RX-8 modified. :D

The Expo is also normally in conjunction with a high-speed driver training weekend at an area track. So you could show AND go!;)

Bookmark the website link in the sig and check regularly for events. Expecially if you are traveling through the DC area, find out if we are doing something at the same time.:cool:
